Teddy was a jackass too. If you're going old-school badass, go with Thomas Jefferson or James Madison, hell George Washington was probably the baddest badass of that day.

Pffft, Teddy wouldnt' shake a stick at Andrew Jackson. AJ told his would be dueler to shoot first. AJ took the bullet and shook it off. Other guy, not so lucky.
While president, AJ gave his would-be pistol assassin a near death beating with a stick. He was saved by presidential aides.
