OU and Texas care about their "rivalry" exactly one day a year.

There's no culture clash between the fan bases. They don't live and work among each other or spend holidays bantering. There are pockets of Sooners in Texas, but their numbers are too small to generate much cultural or societal influence. The Sooners are largely irrelevant in this state except for that weekend in October, at which point most Texas fans pretend to forget they've never even met a Sooner.

The red river "rivalry" remains the most artificial, overhyped event in college sports.
