Do you purchase it yourself, or is it through you employer, or are you still on your parents'?

I doubt my manager will drop it. She knows I need it due to previous medical problems I've had. She actually fudged some numbers when I first started here so I wouldn't have to go 3 months without it. I <3 her, sometimes

If I had a business, and I knew that I had to provide insurance, I wouldn't hire these people. I would also, as a business owner, not hire people who smoke and drink excessively.
In other words, I get what you're saying. There's no easy way about. And while the government can't regulate what you do on your free time, your boss can.

There was a 60 minutes on this a while back IIRC. Smokers were PISSED that they were getting fired because the owner found out they smoked. He had it on the application. Do you smoke? Check yes or no. He made it very clear you were not allowed to smoke and work for his company, and if you were caught, you would be given a warning. If caught again, you were terminated.
You could also have exclusions put in policies that exclude things that the person brought on their self. ex: if you get type 2 diabetes from obesity, you have no coverage.
Life insurance works this way. You can't just kill yourself so that your family receives benefits.

I'm going up on prices starting in Jan to offset my increase. hate to, as I hadn't planned on doing so until 2015, on my tenth yr anniversary, since I haven't since been in business.

You can stay on your parents' plan until you're 26.

And Gov't shouldn't "hire" them either, through entitlement programs. They should be forced to be more responsible. Not get a check for being irresponsible.

Can someone explain to me what Obamacare will mean for me? I'm almost 24..Will my deductible go up?
If you're on the parents insurance, you'll be fine. Your parents may see an increase, but idk their ages and whatnot.
But Obamacare will definitely effect young, healthy males the most. The goal is to provide more affordable insurance to women and the elderly. So you can imagine what that means. Premiums go up for young males.
eta you asked about deductibles rising. You choose your deductible. Insurance companies can't just raise your deductible.

You should just get a private plan through a company, make your renewal date 12/1, and offset ACA for a full year until 11/30 of next year.

That's a great way to waste money but make us feel better

I agree. Let's be clear, I 100% think ACA will fail and do not agree with it.
I think, morally, they're on the right path, but they have taken it drastically too far.

Florida tried drug testing. It didn't work. I think they got like fifty positives out of thousands of tests.

I'd like to see food stamps eliminated. Instead, have markets that those individuals on the program have to go to, to get their food. They're allotted a certain amount of fruit, vegetables, meat and necessities from this market and cannot get anything anywhere else. It won't carry chips, sodas and bull crap like that.

Florida tried it and failed. But I think in the long run this would get a lot of people off of welfare who don't deserve it.
Also, interested to hear your thoughts on medicare when you get some time.

People know how to pass drug tests. They're pretty ineffective. It's a sticky subject.

You'd have to do it by the end of October. Otherwise you're stuck.
