They're not.

Alabama fatigue.
This.
They are salivating over the idea of Oregon, Ohio State and/or Clemson (sorry Stanford) playing for it all. I am calling it now, the national media will be hyping for LSU to beat Bama so they can ease them out of the picture with more worthy "undefeated" programs.

I don't think we're being overlooked by the media, as we're getting almost all of the #1 votes... but I do think that everyone wants to see someone outside the SEC get the crystal ball. The Tide isn't putting up numbers like Oregon. Clemson and Florida State are trying to make a run. Louisville and Baylor are beating their chests, and Ohio State hasn't lost since 2011...The national media needs a story! There's nothing else they can say about the Crimson Tide, other than "they're not looking too dominant...they have a weak schedule...they're too slow for the PAC-10, look what Oregon did to Tennessee!"
I know there was some gnashing of teeth nationally when there was suddenly eight SEC teams in the top 25. The media recognizes the fact that winning "ugly" is still a win, but it's a lot of fun for them to tout the flashy teams, and say, "What If?" I'm hoping to continue the streak of SEC domination, but recognize the fact that everyone else is tired of being second tier conferences.

The most hyped game of the year was A&M v Bama
the combined record of Bama's opponents after that game and through to the LSU game is currently 11-20
Lack of attention is the kindest thing the national media can do for Alabama through this stretch of games. If they were blanketing the country with Alabama coverage now people would notice who exactly they are beating up.

I don't think anyone is seriously debating their #1 ranking. They are just boring, which is actually a compliment. No one has really threatened them this year.

Ahem, and exactly which teams have Baylor been beating up on? lol GTFO

No one is claiming Baylor is slept on at #12. Your argument is both false and irrelevant.

There hasn't been much to talk about. They will be at 1 until they lose and they are aren't playing anyone worth talking about. It will stay that way until they lose or the LSU game.

Bama has a boring stretch of games in October. No one cares that they beat Kentucky, Georgia St, Arkansas and Tennessee.
The writers will pretend the Tennessee game is going to be close and is important this year. Neither of these things is true.

We have played and beaten 1 top ten team, and 1 top 20 team. More than most can say. You were patronizing Bama for their schedule. Our schedule has been exponentionally better than Baylors.

If they are, it's because Oregon has looked fantastic (sort of like they always do, though)
Posted on 10/16/13 at 10:01 am to DeltaDoc
Because they aren't that good

the media tends to forget about teams who don't play anyone worht a shite on their schedule til november,
and the worthless teams they do play they haven't looked great imo

No. Its schedule is a sleeper though.

Minus A&M, when our D was awful, Bama hasn't been very SportsCenter worthy. Not much hype around the team in that respect. Same can be said for individual performances minus C. Jones in week 1. Definitely flying under the radar for back to back champs.

I like how we conveniently don't get to count the first two games, which were two of the best teams we've played. But, counting those two would throw off your stats. And, the fact that you even know those stats says a lot about you and your replies.

I'm taking that stretch of games because that is the stretch of time the media has been "sleeping" on Alabama. I am not saying Alabama is not getting attention because they should not be #1, I am saying Alabama is not getting attention after the A&M game because beating up little kids is not impressive.
I'll make it a timeline for you
Week 1 Alabama beats Va Tech, win strong enough to question Va Tech quality
Week 2 Alabama is on bye, much hoopla over coming A&M showdown. Alabama coaches and players claim it is just normal game and not a big deal rematch. no one believes them.
Week 3 Alabama beats A&M in shoot out, no one expected offense - results cause media to pundits to question Defenses of entire SEC despite game only involving two teams
week 4 Alabama clubs baby seal colorado st, pundits still talking about Alabamas tremendous offense and future heisman winner AJ mccarron in wake of A&M game. Hoopla over pending "top 25" ole miss begins early
week 5 Alabama suffocates Ole Miss like a bag of kittens under water, the only points Ole Miss scores are awarded to Alabama, talk of overwhelming Defense returns.
week 6 Alabama actually drowns kittens on the field, very little coverage
Week 7 Alabama drowns wildcats on the field, very little coverage
week 8 Alabama prepares to drown extremely ugly horned kittens, very little coverage
are you sensing a pattern?
Again, this stretch of Alabama's schedule is so weak the best coverage they can get is what they are getting -- none. at the end of the year when 1 loss Alabama proclaims they should be allowed to defend their title in deference to possible undefeated teams such as Florida St and Ohio St on the basis of the brutality of an SEC schedule, no one will piece it together that Alabama actually had an extraordinarily easy road.

So why can't you understand why people are still skeptical of Oregon??
Oregon has only beat ONE team with a winning record so far (Washington) and they played Stanford a week earlier and even without that, Washington's best win was Boise. They haven't proven anything.
