@AlabamaMBB: Levi Randolph suffers knee injury during practice; expected to be sidelined next several weeks.

Better for it to happen now than a month from now. Sounds like he will at least be back to try to help prevent our annual December collapse.

Grant is the master of not having kids ready to play.

He's arguably our 2nd best player so it makes Oklahoma a probable loss and then the Duke game will just get embarrassing. I could see us losing to Tech and USF without him too.

A Herman Miller just started smoldering...

I hate to hear kids getting injured and I hope for a speedy recovery, BUT besides being a top recruit a few years ago and him being in the system 3 years now...what has he done he's been a big disappointment, bama was going to lose or win with or w/o him, I can't remember one game he has had a major impact in, he can't hit the three, he's too slow to beat guys off the dribble, and too small to play in the post, and his defensive basketball I.Q. is not that good. I'm sorry I just get a lil fired up when I think about bama basketball, it hurts to watch them play a full game...but getting Engstrom back is bigger imo.

You don't watch many of our games, do you?
This is a huge hit, even if we didn't already have depth issues. Retin is going to have to step up big time immediately.

It's hard but I have watched every game I haven't missed a game since Roy Rogers was the man in the middle...Levi is very replaceable, his only play was a back door alley oop, he's the biggest disappointment in that class imo I really thought he was going to be a great player...but he still has time to get better but going off his last two seasons he's a mediocre player, Slaughter is mediocre imo but he wasn't a 4 star recruit, mediocre players can be replaced with mediocre players they are easy to find.

I do agree with this one less body will hurt our depth.

Levi Randolph is a shut-down defender. Probably the best on-ball defender in the league and he has seemingly unlimited energy. He's not been the best offensive player, but that is only half the game. His offensive game was making huge strides late last season as well. Slaughter is a very solid walk-on, but putting him on Randolph's level is ridiculous.

I disagree with everything you said about Levi.

His three point shooting is not good...you have to agree with that...if you can go re-watch the florida game that game showed how much he can't beat guys off the dribble...we all know he's too small for the post game, that boy from lsu was killing whoever we put on him down there...his best attributes was on the defensive side but it was a lot of times he just got lost and a guy would back cut him...but none of that is not to say in his junior year he could have gotten better, but his first two years we could have won every game we won w/o him and lost every game we lost w/o him...point me out a game that you can say w/o Levi we would have lost that game...I can point out plenty of games where I can say that about Trevor Releford even Trevor Lacey had games that I can say that he really stepped up and helped us win that game...Levi has all the potential but so far he hasn't produced on the court he has been the missing piece the last two years imo.

Grant has an excuse every single year. I was okay for a few years but its getting ridiculous.

You say he is a bad defender with a below average defensive iq, that's moronic. He's one of our best defenders, often the point man for our press, and we're a good defensive team, so...yeah.
You say he can't beat anyone off the dribble, also patently false. Probably the only passable part of Levi's offensive game is his ball handling. If anything, he should be more aggressive off the dribble because the ability is there, and as you point out, he's not a very good shooter. He is however pretty good finishing around the basket and even dropping some floaters in the lane, which he should do more of.
He can't guard anyone in the post? That's great, we've never asked him to. Maybe you're thinking of Cooper
I can think of many games we would have lost without Levi in the last two years. Would you have wanted Lacey on the point for our press? Would you want Cooper bringing the ball up the floor when they deny Releford the ball or Eblen was in the game? No sane person would. Not anybody who understands basketball anyway. About that ..
