Don't disagree with you, but you need to throw a scrap to the Southern Arkansas population every so often.
Who are we exactly catering too?
There is a massive population shift, within the state, to NWA and Central Arkansas. That puts Central Arkansas kids either picking Ole Miss or Arkansas for college as they are the same distance.
Arkansas has the upper hand as the stadium and campus is much larger and nicer. I like Ole Miss and back in 2001 I'd even say it was better. It isn't even close today.
Plus, the lottery in Arkansas lets kids from every single corner of the state attend any University you wish. Now you can grow up watching the Hogs on TV and actually attend the University from Lake Village instead of having Little Rock as your gateway.
I am on board with the business model of Dallas replaces Little Rock and 9 conference games head to the Hill.

People that live in south Arkansas who can afford to attend Little Rock games can also afford to drive an extra 2.5 hours to Fayetteville. It's maybe an extra $80 in gas.

Checkmate.
How much did the Spring game cost to go to compared to the game against Samford?
and again, WTF do you expect for a game off campus against BS like Samford?
and look, I get that y'all want all home games on campus. I do too. I f-ing HATE that we waste a great game each year on JerryWorld after this season. It has never sold out either.
However, I just don't see how anyone can complain about the attendance tonight when y'all played a horseshite game against Samford.
Hell, if y'all are gong to play there you should at least go up against another team from Arkansas like Arky State, Pine Bluff or whatever.

It's old thinking.
The target audience is Central Arkansas as that is the influx and Dallas. You don't target an area, south Arkansas, with a declining population. I just think this is awful business.

They can afford it money wise, yes. But what about time? I think people forget Fayetteville isn't easy to get to from certain parts of the state.

I suppose all you whiner little piss ants also like Pepsi better than Coke, Fayetteville better than Little Rock and Wal Marks better than Falcon Jet/ Stephens.
If that would have been LSU then it would have been sold out, had that been a better opponent, it would have been sold out. Pretty sure they are not selling out Reynolds either and you all want to act like they are not making money. That shitty opponent in that shitty stadium generated roughly 2.6 million in gate and no telling what in merchandise and shitty Pepsi products.
The people that have moved to NWA are not locals but transplants either for Wal Mark or some other vendor doing business with them. The game is for exposure and making the Razorbacks available to the rest of the state and if you all were over the age of 30 and/ or from this area then maybe that would be important to you.
I have been here longer than most of you and despite your best efforts am still here, I could care less if you all like it or not but your inflammatory posts and threads are laughable.
Then you all wonder why no one in the Rant takes anything you all say seriously and why they think that I am the most reasonable Arkansas poster here.

Then you're bad businessman. You take care of your base then expand. You have to give Little Rock/South/East Arkansas a reward for support. If you don't then their money goes elsewhere. NWA solely doesn't feed the monster.

There is also a night in a hotel. You are looking at 6 extra hours of driving time (not saying keep the games in LR, just pointing out that it would push the games out of some people's budget)

Originally it was to unite the state for money and recruits. I also believe that Fayetteville struggled to fill the stadium, so they played 4 games in Little Rock and 3 in Fayetteville. The reasons why we continue are up for debate, but we now only play 2 games in Little Rock and may play none in the future.

Way less than it would cost to drive to Fayetteville and a hotel for the weekend if you are from Pine Bluff.
The point is... We had more in NWA corner of the state for a spring game than then largest metro in the state is willing to pay a small convince fee in comparison.

In past decades they always sold out which was a pride point for WMS.

You don't get it. Thank goodness the new Foundation President understand. The new money donors and new alumni are wanting luxury. They want Wi-Fi, parking, tailgating, TV's, betting lines, chairbacks etc.. in their stadiums.
War Memorial is so far behind the new money generation laughs at it. Even poor people want Wi-Fi and chair backs and will to pay a little more and drive a littler further than sit on metal.

They've had the reward since 2001. It expires in 2016.

That's right. Where will Little Rock put their money since Arkansas and Ole Miss are the exact same distance. I'll take my chances on this everyday.

Take off your marketing glasses for a minute. It's not all about money. There is a lot of talent in south Arkansas and north Louisiana. I hunt in south Arkansas and there is a growing LSU fan base down there. The University needs to make every effort to stay connected with those fans.

WTF are you talking about, man? A reward? This isn't charity. You either support the program because it's your alma mater, or you're just a fan, or you don't.

UALR use to have a football team, and I suppose if the Razorbacks go away from Little Rock for good then it is possible that UALR could get their team back.
The whole over tones in this whole thing was to get rid of the Little Rock games altogether. I do not know what their intentions are BB said it was a great atmosphere and the Markham walk is history. Some historic Razorback games have taken place there but unless they expand it, and make it larger more modern then it could be a thing of the past.

I don't disagree with what you are saying. Even though I'm old school (shudder) and don't need any of those amenities I understand that they are make or break for other people.
I'm just saying if y'all are going to continue to play games there you are going to have to play teams from in state in order to sell out. In this day and age when even the worst games can be found on TV people are just not going to shell out for games off campus against garbage competition that the average Joe has never heard of.
Again, I always want all home games on campus. I hate wasting our game on JerryWorld. The atmosphere sucks arse compared to on campus games and there are always thousands of empty seats (mostly due to the redonkulous prices that cost more than most bowl games)

Disagree. Those stud athletes from south and east Arkansas have and continue to consider LSU or Ole Miss for schools just as they have for 100 years. LSU is closer to South Arkansas and Ole Miss is closer to Eastern Arkansas yet all those kids on the majority always come to Fayetteville.
If Houston Nutt was coaching and I was from Warren I'd be going to LSU also. If coach B is coaching and shows BCS bowls I'd more than likely play for my home state.
I'm so tired of the scared tactic. That is exactly what you are talking about. Who cares there is a growing LSU fan base in South Arkansas?
South Arkansas is declining in population yet growing in an LSU fan base. Get the hell out of Little Rock as it is not a facilitator for a kid to attend Arkansas in 2013.

In addition to all the other reasons given for why WMS didn't sell out, I suspect many didn't attend simply to make a point. I really believe that too much is being made out of WMS not selling out, considering the opponent.

We are Arkansas. And we're one of the poorest states in the nation. I'm all for improving ourselves and having more fancy doodads, but I don't want to cut off huge chunks of our fan base to appease the few wealthy fans we have. Mind you that I'm not disagreeing with you, but let's not lose sight of the typical Arkansas fan.
