ho honestly believes Lacey when stating she never had any physical relationships with recruits, yet she was dubbed "The Closer"?....
Are you implying that a more accurate nickname would have been 'The Opener'?

Seals-Jones, once a Texas commit who wound up signing with Texas A&M last February, and his family open themselves up to the entire process. The juiciest part is an alleged offer to the Jones family from a "top-20 program" – not A&M – for the following: $300,000 in cash, use of a luxury suite during football season, eight season tickets and $1,000 per month for Ricky and $500 for the family. "Oh, it was higher than that," Chester Jones, Ricky's dad said. "It was a lot higher than that." Chester Jones said the offers grew as high as $600,000 for his son's signature on a national letter of intent – one SEC school and one ACC school said they'd double any offer – but he declined them all out of principle and the fear of inevitably getting caught. Only other SEC schools to recruit him were Auburn and LSU.
Wasn't Auburn. We have a hard cap of $180,000 per player.

Agree. We have to save as much as possible for basketball.

Cyrus K got $500k through the anonymous donation to his high school causing his HS coaches to refuse to allow him to fax his LOI to AU on NSD, so I would say $300-$600k is in the ballpark.

You are such a wonderful break from the norm. and by norm, I mean normal, sane people.

was thinking the same thing. Because he was afraid if they got caught? I mean, what would they do? If a family gets caught taking money there is very little the NCAA can do.
Not to the family, but stripping a player of his eligibility early (if they get caught quickly) can badly damage his NFL prospects. Think "one million now" vs "potential tens of millions of dollars later." It's all about math.

Bama offered $200k when they went after Means a dozen years ago, so the numbers quoted seem reasonable IMO.
Maybe the coaches were trying to protect Cyrus from getting involved with a scandal after Auburn sent that money?
Actually, the real distinction too few people fail to make is between a school and a booster. The Means case, for instance, wasn't even alleged to be sanctioned by the school. SMU, otoh, was a clear case of the school going crazy. Ohio State was in-between...the school didn't sanction it, but their head coach certainly tried to cover it up.

No way that fricking blond bimbo would draw me to a school. I know UT has to have better talent than that.

To be fair, that never stoped ATPB from becoming the cancerous mass of the Internet.
