The tape (which was illegally taken btw and is really the only criminal act in all of this) apparently has the broker asking Johnny if he will sign some special stuff for money to which Johnny says he won't because that has gotten him in trouble before. So Johnny was essentially asked 2 questions and gave one answer. The only thing for sure he is saying is he wouldn't take the money being offered. Oh, and his Mercedes also doesn't have new rims on it as the agent said he was off camera going to use the money to buy (which made no sense either considering the cash Johnny has personally).
The new evidence showing that Johnny's family trademarking his name ended up with a large number of brokers getting banned from Ebay for 2 weeks also weakens any hearsay evidence greatly. There are a lot of brokers with real cause to hate Johnny for hurting their business.
Did Johnny take money? I have no idea, maybe so. The evidence is very flimsy though. The most damning of it is a convicted drug dealer broker with an illegal tape we can't see where apparently he is signing autos and refuses to take money. Of course we do have the word of his convict that Johnny took money for which no records seem to exist.
As it stands the Manziel family lawyers and the A&M lawyers should be able to make that all look pretty ridiculous. That's beyond the fact that the NCAA likely wants nothing but this to go away. Between the O'Bannon case and the way several conferences are openly talking about leaving the NCAA the last thing they want is to suspend the Heisman Trophy winner, they have more to lose than anyone.

yeah we saw this in the Cam Newton case. The NCAA and the SEC will bend over backwards to avoid this if they can. Joe Schad saw the tape and he thinks Manziel is guilty. If I had to guess I'd say he's guilty just like Cam was. What will the NCAA do? My guess is nothing as long as everyone stays quiet and the tape doesn't surface. If the tape surfaces I think Manziel is done for the year because he didn't cooperate/lied to investigators.

Even though I don't think the NCAA has any hard evidence re: Manziel taking money, I wouldn't put it past them giving A&M sanctions after the season is over. Why? Because Manziel will probably be going pro ...and they can.

I think if the NCAA were provided a clean out of this they would take it. They pretty much have their backs to the wall if the rovell types keep stirring the shite up.
I hope the lawyers are working toward that.

If Manziel is guilty and there are tapes to prove it, he needs to do himself and A&M a favor and go pro. Because it eventually will come out...unless of course there is money involved to prevent it from happening.
...and paying these guys off could lead to something worse.

Wrong! They would be sued out the arse if they didn't have proof and deemed him ineligible. Which coloring book did you read this in?
You should research Albert Means.

I'm not re-linking everything in my argument for this. Taping an in-person conversation via video, is not illegal in CT. Only taping private telephone conversations is illegal (without both parties consent). No wiretapping or eavesdropping laws were broken either. According to what I read, that video tape is legal, but it doesn't matter anyways. The NCAA isn't a court of law.

Tell me the reason again that the NCAA found Cam innocent. He was not a Heisman winner. He was proving to be a good football player, and Auburn had won all their games, but don't fool yourself into thinking that the NCAA wouldn't have jumped all over any way to convict Cam and AU, especially with the media jumping up and down and demanding it.

NCAA has been hammered in the courts for some of their actions during investigations. I don't think Johnny or ATM should be considered about prior cases in which the NCAA went off assumptions.

Dan Wolken @DanWolken
Interesting. NCAA just announced a media conference call with the Board of Directors following their meeting this afternoon.

Also, how do you explain the "you never met me" comment. It paints a pretty clear picture IMO that he knew what he was doing was wrong.
I don't mind debating whether the NCAA will be able to prove these allegations or not, and what amount of evidence is needed to rule him ineligible, but lets not pretend like JM did nothing wrong ... It's pretty evident at this point there is, at the very least, merit in these allegations.

I for one WANTS him to play this year so the SEC can knock is fricking big head off.

Yeah, I'm not sure if the NCAA will ever see that tape, but if they do (and also assuming it shows what Schad reported), JM is likely done IMO.

They had no proof he took money. The SEC is a different story. By the rules, he should have been barred from competing within the SEC as his father was selling him out to the highest bidder. They basically said Cam had no knowledge of this... even though Cam had previously stated the influence his father would have in his selection...
If Cam wasn't on a tear and AU wasn't undefeated I don't think the SEC would have been as lenient. We all get away with stuff so I'm not mad at anyone. It's just the facts of life.
