Honestly what concerns you doesn't really matter.
Well, obviously. We're just a couple of trolls here killing time.
But for Sumlin, the stakes are higher and the long term consequences could be very real.
He should be very concerned with all the possibilities we're talking about here, and I'll bet my hat he's way more concerned about it than you are I are, no matter how much you want to pretend like him playing JM is a forgone conclusion .

A&M has no knowledge on the issue that the NCAA does not have
You'd better hope not.

If the NCAA doesn't feel like there is sufficient evidence to warrant a suspension, then clearly A&M can not be held to an omniscient standard.
They're still investigating. He's not omniscient, but Sumlin would be wise to remember that.

An open investigation simply does not constitute a violation and the NCAA has never treated it as such.
Had the Reggie Bush scandal broke before his junior year, when he was still not able to go to the NFL, do you think USC would have played him under the shadow of such an investigation?
And if they had, do you think the punishments may have been even more severe when the NCAA came down with their ruling?

So he thinks JFF is better than Cam!
Not even worth the effort

I just wish to heck the Aggies would stop with the citation of the Connecticut Law. It's an antiquated dinosaur. Anybody in CT with a smart phone has probably broken that law on a daily basis.

If you care, based on the people I've talked to, we're not going to do that and we feel fully protected in proceeding like this. It's why we brought in Lightfoot, Franklin & White. They've apparently explained exactly what I did. If we have no knowledge, we have to assume innocence.
shite just play him. Didn't hurt Albarn.

albarn was already 10 or so games into the season so they had nothing to lose. Aggies season has not started

Manziel is playing. No time off. 7 months of ESPN investigation with no attributable proof. No video. This case is closing soon.

honestly, whether you believe this or not, Sumlin really has no say here. He's not compliance. His job is to coach a football team and he's rightly staying out of it. He has no liability here as long as it stays that way.

Well of course if this is false, A&M will and should be hammered. We should forfeit every game he plays without a doubt.

Again, who cares? Investigation is not guilt. Bryant was under investigation during which time he played 3 games. The second the investigation turned up a violation, he was immediately suspended. It's a pretty simple process - evidence before punishment

Reggie Bush is an entirely different scenario as a coach had direct knowledge of it. Of course the school was hammered.
The Bryant and Manziel cases are in no way similar to Bush as in both cases they have nothing to do with the institution, only the player. It's actually a fairly rare occurrence as most violations involve the school or boosters in some way. But another example is Ron McKelvoy. In that case, UTx again received no punishment for playing an ineligible player in all 12 games leading up to the Sugar Bowl because they had no prior knowledge.

Manziel will play - and if A&M has to forfeit games they will. Losing some wins doesn't mean much in the big scheme of things. The only way he doesn't play is if something damning comes out before the year.
With the brokers having an axe to grind, they just lost a lot of credibility. Also, teammates are sticking by him in twitter and the press. No division on the team

of course there is no division on the team.... as Gary Patterson so eloquently put "of course the players want him on the team, they want to win"

This goes beyond the compliance department, or at least it should. It's Sumlin's program. If there is a scandal on his watch, it's on him whether compliance cleared him or not. No one gets on the field unless he says so, so he can hold JM out even if compliance hasn't ordered him to yet.

I mean, it's clear we have different views on Schad's report about a video he personally viewed. You don't think he's credible, I see no reason that he would blatantly lie and just create such a video out of thin air. Even I'm not THAT skeptical of the media, and I think they're all just a cut above prostitutes
I wish you guys the best of luck that a UT booster doesn't fork up the money for that video before yours do.

I think you are looking at it the wrong way. Sumlin will play Manziel because he's auditioning for an NFL job. If everything works out whatever sanctions are possible won't follow him to his new team.
