LSU strong defense was better than A&M's strong offense. Thats basically it in a nutshell.

In 2010, LSU was better than Arkansas, after Arkansas destroyed them in LR, because they beat aggy in the Cotton Bowl, the same aggy team Arkansas beat, but they were better because bowl games mattered and they won theirs.

3 points is more than you would think in the SEC. I think by the end of the year A&M was the best team in the country, but I don't think PF and PA are the reason why, and I don't think they make a good argument. I think they were the best team because they could score points even against good defenses, and their defense proved to be better than expected, especially when they got ahead and forced teams to throw every down. One thing I've learned is that in the SEC especially being the better team doesn't even mean anything. It was so frustrating to dominate Bama physically last year, and then lose. And it was incredible to get dominated vs them in 2011 and win

LSU beat A&M in 2012 so in my book, we were the better team that year. Who knows this year but in 2012, LSU was the better team.
In 2011, Alabama was better than LSU. No two bones about it. We just barely beat them once (any idiot can kick a field goal) and then they obliterated us for the title.
The only stat that matters is the W or the L.

ETA: And I don't agree with that poster's opinion on w/l being the ONLY thing that matters in discussing which team is better over an entire season.
