Here is the link you originally asked for, but then withdrew your request.

Even if so, college football isn't the NFL and has always rejected many NFL rules. This will be one of them. More likely than not, the NCAA will avoid any of this mess by just telling refs to stand over the ball for a certain number of seconds after every 1st down so teams can sub. Problem solved.

I have 100+ years of college football history on my side indicating that there will not be an NCAA rule penalizing for injuries--fake or not. You have a new rule in the NFL that is seldom enforced as your only beacon of hope. I'll let everyone else decide who's opinion is more foolish and misplaced based on the evidence.

Saban is right and deep down everyone knows it. Football was never designed to be played as a continuous sport, it takes away the beautiful chess match between coaches every play as they switch the personnel and packages and try to get one past the opposing team. It's not Saban's fault you can't recruit and develop players like he can, and we should not be subjected to pussy football because of it.
Lol this is such a bs statement. The game is played to be won. Football is progressive and ever changing. I'm sure there were coaches bitching about the emergence of the west coast and spread but these have become a regular part of the game.
Here's the thing, I understand Saban sandbagging this because his defense isn't exactly designed to stop it. As you so poignantly stated, its a chess match. Part of that chess match is recruiting. Maybe he should try recruiting linebackers that aren't 260+ and run 4.8s. This is all moot though, because his recruiting classes are almost always in the top 5 and he's still winning.
What's bothersome about this, is him hiding behind the veil of player safety. This isn't about player safety. This is him worrying about the direction some offenses are going and him having to adapt. Here are his options for slowing down these offenses: 1)stop them and 2) use his timeouts.

Good thing nothing ever changes, like rules. Thank god, so end of thread, right?

So a new rule for an action that shouldn't happen and rarely happens was only enforced a few times? Well hot damn you are on to something here.

This was never an issue in the past 100 years and your lame resort to that irrelevant information is telling.

Why is it bothersome? The fact that he is using a current issue in the game to affect the rules to his advantage is brilliant. This mindset is why he will go down as one of the GOAT.

Um, Saban's D could easily stop the spread most of the time, unless you face a one man show (*cough* A&M *cough*)

Why aren't there 5000 threads calling Saban a whiner like there is when another SEC coach complains about a proven schedule unbalance?
Posted on 7/22/13 at 5:30 pm to Hurricane Mike
Because there aren't 5000 alabama fans creating said threads

Until what you're predicting comes true, the weight of college football history supports my argument. No way the NCAA legislates a rule that discourages an injured player from seeking medical treatment. The NFL is played by professional entertainers for millions of dollars, thus the governing body will react to situations like this one much differently than the NCAA will with amateur student/atheletes in college.
Additionally, Saban is THE Godfather of college football right now. His words carry alot of weight. Saban and Slive were two of the first public figures in college football several years ago publically advocating for a 4 team playoff. Guess what we have now? A 4 team playoff. Saban was the first and only SEC coach advcocating a 9 game SEC schedule. I'd bet you a steak dinner 5 years from now that will be a reality. Other conferences have already gone to this model. The fact that he, and other coaches--are pushing back because of player safety--in an age where that is THE issue on everyone's mind will have an affect. Maybe not right now, but in the near future. Even if what you say happens, Saban is continuing to win titles in the age of HUNH, and has shown the ability to adapt and change in his career--so he'll come out the winner either way. I know that sucks as an AU fan, but you really should just get used to it for the next decade or so.

I made this reference in another thread a while back, but he is like the guy on old school madden games that would wait to see which play you picked of the three options then call his play, every fricking time.

Yeah, it's the 'No Huddle' part really. The top teams are in shape so I don't know if the 'Hurry Up' is that big a deal. Not allowing defensive packages...that's the kicker.

Not using every angle to help you win titles is foolish. The greats like Bryant and Saban use every loophole and push every rule to help them win. If that rubs our rivals the wrong way, that's just dandy by me!
