my goodness you're dense... there is literally no QB trait where AJM has an advantage over Andrew Luck... arm strength, awareness, athleticism, speed, intelligence, size.... none.
McCarron is very good, but Luck took a three win team to the playoffs as a rookie... AJ will be lucky to see the field before his third season in the pros.

Like they say, rings are the be all and end all.
If MaCarron has another 30 TD 3 INT year and wins his 3rd title as the starting QB, the best ever “ college QB ” might very well be a good argument. That doesn't mean he is the greaest QB of alltime, but he places a lot of his balls perfectly on his long throws.

If he does I would say he would be in the conversation. If he somehow won the Heisman(which I don't think he will but would be great)this year I would say without a doubt best ever.

Hey man...that's like your opinion.

How often do you take things out of context?

Or are you trying to tell me that "be-all and end-all" has some other abstract definition?

most (if not all) can be proven right now... Intelligence and awareness aren't really quantifiable, but Luck studied architecture at Stanford... McCarron has a chest tatt the size of kitchen sink.

But, you know, you're one of those that love STATS, so I could argue with you until I was blue in the face and you would still stick to your homerish opinion. STATS don't tell the whole story.
YEAH, HIT HIM WITH THE STATS!!!

So what inside scoop do you have that he won't see the field until his 3rd year?

No, nobody that really knows what they're talking about says that.

that's a bit of a stretch... if Greg McElroy can start an NFL game in year two, then McCarron's got more than a chance... just has to find a team desperate enough, like the jets.

I gotta give love to Andre Ware. He has stupid techno bowl numbers.

I think AJ is better than you're giving him credit for....come on.
Posted on 7/18/13 at 4:34 pm to thatdude1985
i've given the man credit... I think he's a very good college QB. He's probably the 2nd best QB in the conference. He doesn't really have a weakness.
As far as the league goes, AJ doesn't have any real elite traits the NFL looks for, like athleticism, armstength, accuracy... again, he's very good and doesn't have a true weak spot, but he's not elite either.

Did Dilfer have the kind of stats A.J. put up ?
You can win a title with a QB as bad as Jay Barker was ( passing ) in 92 , with a great defense and a great running game. Why do all you guys assume that only a QBs passsing stats matter ? A QB leads, he is responsible for getting the play off, even in a runing situation.Maybe Marino should have checked to more running plays to achieve more balance ?
As to the facts , like I stated , if AJ has another 30-3 ratio and wins another title he might very well be the best college QB ever.
Likewise if Dilfer won 5 SUPER BOWLS and had three 40 tds to 4 ints season he would be BETTER than Marino , but he ,like Barker was truly a game manager ( Barker was very good his senior year ) but both had the leadership skills to win a title, Marino didn't.
QBs greatness , IMO , have to be looked at in a 3 pronged manner.
1. Passing ability / stats.
2. Leadership ability
3. Mental Toughness / can you get it done in crunch time.

Again why does Luck being far and away the better QB not show up in the stats?
Awareness? AJ has threw for 8 interceptions in his career, where as Luck threw for 22? Well you will say Luck threw more but Luck threw an INT in college every 48 pass attempts where as AJ has thrown one for every 86 pass attempts.
You call AJ a game manager but he has thrown for more yards per attempt.
Again, where are you seeing the eye popping differences that make Luck better? If he was far and away better would it not show up somewhere in the stats? Or Wins? Or Championships? After all what are we going to define better at?

Matt Flynn part II.
And that's nothing to scoff at. Flynn was a fine college QB, and if he spends most of his career as a backup, that's fine too.

This guy is like a really bad combination of Luke and CC Tiger1...
He's got both of their really terrible posting qualities, but he's a lot more arrogant and pretentious - which makes him slightly more infuriating to try and have a discussion with.
