Went to Auburn last year with some buddies.
We really enjoyed it. Stayed in Opelika. Campus, stadium, tailgating and people all very nice....

Best-UT
We always get a chalet in the smokies and enjoy going into town Fri night and socializing with other Bama and UT fans. Great setting and a beautiful part of the world.
Worst-LSU
Extremely rude fans, dont like the food on a hot afternoon, No good socializing between fans, just tiger baits for 3 hours until you hear it in your sleep and hostile people. Took my wife in 02 and she promised me to never take her back there. I went up until Saban came and I stopped going. havent been since 2006 and dont plan to. Totally miserable experience there. Love the atmosphere in the stadium but the whole experience is awful. Cant even go to a restaurant( Bob Brunet's was my favorite. Hate that it closed) without being harrassed. Call me old but I like better sportsmanship and socializing. People can do what they want, I just choose not to subject myself to what goes on there. I didnt even go to the LSU game in ttown 2 years ago. Just dont want to be a part of that.
Athens and Nashville are close to the top as great road games as well. Nashville may be the best SEC town there is.

Yes because he is able to personally communicate with all of the millions of LSU alumni and fans around the globe.
Even if the Alashama administration spreads out Tiger fans in all parts of BD, they'll still bring 20,000 to Tuscaloosa every 2 years.

I would bet a million dollars that you felt fans were rude to you because of how you reacted to "tiger bait" or other good-natured ribbing.
How do you think we feel when we went to Tuscaloosa in 06 and had to hear vulgar, disgusting Katrina jokes, and "corndog" jokes - which seems to be missed on you people - as this "moniker" was stolen by an AUBURN fan (supposedly your arch-enemies) from a NEBRASKA/IOWA/KANSAS message board discussion.
When you were on LSU's campus, did you not SEE AND HEAR all the Red, Gold, White and Purple co-tailgating under thousands of tents and canopies all over campus ????
Also, why in heaven's name do you put on a pedestal JUST the ones were were 'tiger-baiting' you or were somehow 'rude' ???????
What about the tens of thousands of OTHER LSU people who didn't even give you a second thought, ignored you, or just were not in your eye or ear shot because they were too busy tailgating, eating, watching games, etc - with themselves AND Alabama fans ?????????
And noooooooooooooooooooo, I don't want to hear your next crybaby complaint, becaues I knooowww it's coming "well it wasn't a few, it was MOST of them."
Really !!!!!!!!!!! MOST of 150,000 people tigerbaited you and were 'rude' to you.
Here's what I think. I think you either
A. were rude and unfriendly YOURSELF, OR
B. LET the 'tigerbaiters' KNOW that you didn't like it, instead of just laughing it off, or at least SMILING at them.
Had you done the latter, you would have probably gotten a whole different reaction.
Since I've attended Alabama-LSU games on LSU's campus since the 80's, I have ALWAYS felt that the two fanbases get along very well during gameday, and I have even invited Tide fans that I meet on campus to the Tiger Athletic Foundation (TAF) Pregame party in the Maravich Assembly Center.
Sounds like you are one of the few Tide fans that realizes that an SEC Road Trip is not a trip to the opera, and should take cheers, jeers, 'tiger-bating', etc in stride instead of letting them know it upsets you.
Do I let it upset me when I go to the LSU-Bama games at Tuscaloosa and see grown-arse men inside makeshift cages pulling a hotdog around on a string and assuming that LSU fans would be insulted ??????????
No. Actually, I felt it was quite funny, as it showed their true character and their simpleton intelligence and sense of humor.
But do I indict AAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLL Alabama fans I see on campus because of a few corndog-toting idiots ????
No.

I will chime in with my opinion. I have been to all of the SEC road games except for A&M, Mizzu, Arkansas and Kentucky so I won't speak on them at all.
My favorite road trip is easily Athens and this isn't even close. It helps that I have friends around the area and in Atlanta but I love the town and the stadium. UGA has owned us for the better part of a decade which sucks but I still have fun on the trip. If you choose to stay in Athens for a couple nights, the bars are fun and the fans are usually very good to deal with unless you come in as a dickhole.
Least favorite by far was MSU. I hated their stadium and Starkville. We found nothing to do for a couple days there. Granted I went back for the 97 or 98 game which it might have changed a lot since then, most places have.
Most disappointing was LSU. I expected to be wowed by the night life and we ended up leaving the night after the game because we couldn't really find a good bar that we enjoyed the night before. We ended up back in New Orleans for another night instead and had fun on Bourbon St. This might have been a different trip if we knew someone or a few to show us around but there wasn't a series of bars (like a row of them) at the time so you had to know where they were.
Tuscaloosa is nicer now than it was before the tornado, and no it isn't a jab but when they cleaned up, they cleaned up a lot more than the damage. The stadium is nice and the campus is really nice.
Ole Miss is a pretty place to go and the fans seemed pretty nice.
South Carolina was fun. Not a whole lot to say, Columbia is a good sized city so there is a lot to do and the surrounding areas are very pretty.
Wasn't a fan of UT and didn't like the city either. I put it near the bottom of my list.
Vandy was fun but that was mainly due to being in Nashville so you have a ton to do outside the game.
I went to the Swamp as an FSU fan in the 90s and had a blast. While the rivalry was in full swing, Gainsville is a fun town with a ton of hot women.

Probably one of the biggest campus changes in the SEC since those years. Mainly because we started from so low while other campus had already reached their "peak". You have to see Starkville these days. A lot of people talk shite and call it a shite hole, but a good bit of unbiased fans will tell you that the campus is very beautiful. It's hard for other fans to have a good time (late night) because a lot of the night life is centered around Greek and college aged students.

LSU is my favorite trip. I hate to call what they do tailgating because it is more like a combination of state fair, mardi gras, block party and the 4th of July. Have never had a bad experience and wife and I have been going nearly 30 years.

The only SEC town I haven't had fun in is Knoxville FWIW. Turns out that Lane Kiffin turned Tennessee fans into a bunch of buttholes.

10. Starkville/MSU, Actually, I have a bunch of friends from Starkville, it's just that this rivalry is such a big deal to them. I love to mess with them about it. They literally want to destroy my finances, kill me, blow up my car, etc. I have been to games there when they weren't playing Ole Miss and they acted almost normal. When they play us, there is a pent up hostility that comes out like I have never seen in a fanbase. I now own 4 cowbells. All four I took from MSU fans trying to attack me during a game in Oxford with them. I had been hit with two of them. I promise you the blood on those bells isn't mine
HuggieBear, you are an awful person just by writing this whole piece. I have been to the Egg Bowl for a decade and have never seen anyone use a cowbell as a weapon towards an UM fan or any fan whatsoever. If you have had 4 used against you, than that alone tells me how awful you are.

A lot of my friends enjoyed it for the most part, I just think I personally hyped it up too much because of it being "the game of the century." I want to go to a game in Ttown when Bama is playing Tenn or someone besides LSU just to experience it.

I went to Tuscaloosa in '09 and had a great time. Went again in '11 and it was a white trash convention.
