Move MSU to the East and put Mizzou in the West. Make MSU-Ole Miss a permanent rivalry game.

I second this.
Egg Bowl has been played 108 times. Cocktail party 90.

LSUdon:
The two division winners would play the SEC championship. It would be no different than today, except the divisions change in even vs. odd years.

Only looked at the schedule, didn't read the whole thing but i think it's pretty clever. I wouldn't mind it.

This is a smart solution that should really be given serious consideration.
The SEC should listen to this guy. And pay him.

Is there some rule that says divisions must be limited to two, split down the middle? Otherwise I can't see the NCAA getting involved.
quote:
17.9.5.2 (c) Twelve-Member Conference Championship Game. [FBS/FCS] A conference championship game between division champions of a member conference of 12 or more institutions that is divided into two divisions (of six or more institutions each), each of which conducts round-robin, regular-season competition among the members of that division
This plan would not violate the rule

I know personally, the 3 teams I want LSU to play every year are A&M, Ole Miss, and Bama. There isn't a rivalry with MSU
I pretty much agree with this, although, and this probably won't be very popular with LSU fans, I'd really like to see LSU play Bama, A&M, Ole Miss AND Arky every year.
But ultimately the Bama-UT/AU-UGA thing will probably be like the Rose Bowl under the old Bowl Alliance. If you'remember the Rose Bowl didn't want to have anything to do with a BCS style post-season arrangement due to the long standing tradition of having the Pac and Big(x) champions play. But that tradition had to go when the Rose Bowl committee saw the writing on the wall. Change was going to happen and the best they could do was work out an arrangement that sort of kept the old tradition, but not exactly.
Traditions come and they go. It used to be tradition to have the SEC champion play an at-large team in the Sugar Bowl every year, but we had to give that up for the sake of moving forward with a more fair post-season arrangement, I see the same thing happening with the old SEC rivalries.
After all, no one is saying Bama would never play UT again, just that it won't be every single year.

Pod Names:
Seinfeld Pod
Florida
Georgia
South Carolina
Obviously the pod w/ Florida is the Seinfeld. Their Jewish/New York snowbird population probably exceeds that of the rest of the entire SEC.
Costanza Pod
Alabama
Auburn
Tennessee
With all those three in the same pod, the annual airing of grievances during Festivus will be legendary. And since Festivus is celebrated w/ a pole instead of a tree, it is even Bama-safe.
Kramer Pod
LSU
Texas A&M
Ole Miss
Miss. State
A character that is incredibly eccentric, bordering on downright weird? Only the pod w/ the Aggies is worthy of that name.
Benes Pod
Mizzou
Arky
Vandy
Kentucky
Well, one of the pods had to be named after a girl, and if the shoe fits...

I like the plan more than the current Bamacentric BS, but the simpler solution is to decide division champions by division games only. Cross division games are irrelevant, even as tiebreakers.

quote:Actually, it wouldn't, because the divisions would change every year. The NCAA doesn't require your divisions to be permanent, just that you play a round-robin against all the teams in your division. The roommate switch does that. It's not perfect, but there is a lot to be said for it.
This plan would not violate the rule

Makes good sense to me...
However, Slive will never go for it if he and his cronies didn't come up with it.

I loved this concept last year when it was presented but unless a few certain schools were to be on board it would never even be presented.
