How is Kevin Sumlin relevant to his comments?

His comments reflect 2011 and how it should always be for him if he drops a game or two.

Remind me how undefeated LSU was that time when they won the BCS.

There is the foul stench of hypocrisy and mendacity in Saban's words. I'm sorely disappointed in him. Was thinking of naming him my hero.

A lot of people hating on Saban for proposing probably the best college football arrangement there is.
Then again, Saban has a lot of haters for multiple reasons. Being the best coach in all of college football will do that I suppose.

I'm sure this will be included on the vote to ban the HUNH Saban wants too.

I punched the "up" button for this.

Notre Dame is joining the ACC
They're going to play 5 ACC games, but not compete for the conference title in football.
In simple terms they're shacked up, but not getting married and are free to date others.

Will happen. Don't know when.
It will happen after about a decade of the 4 team playoff. It won't be quite what Saban laid out, but you're going to see a super division of five or six 16 team conference, each with a title game and the regular season's going to only have one or two OOC games.

This has been my thought process from the beginning:
Get down to 4 conferences of 16 teams
Each conference has 2 divisions of 8
Play a 10-11 game season (all 7 in your side and 3 OOC or whatever)
Top 2 on each side play the top 2 on the opposing side in a 4 team semi (higher record etc gets home field or neutral field for the title game as the SEC/B1G/ACC do now
Winner of each of those conferences plays in the semifinal and then the final for the crystal

I have to disagree with you on that. I don't think that the current BCS schools should be playing the "directional" schools. 9 times out of 10, they usually aren't real exciting games for the fans. There is usually no build up of excitement leading up to those games. Now granted, sometimes those schools take out the bigger schools from time to time. But that is the exception, and not the rule. And when it does happen, it can be pretty devastating. Yet when you beat one of those schools, there is no real excitement for the win. So the risks out weight the rewards for playing those games.

This is based on the premise that there is parity between the conferences, and thus no conference would be treated differently than any other, or deserve to be. Too bad a division of Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, State, Mizzou and Texas A&M is stronger than whatever the frick the Big Ten has. And y'all shouldn't be given the same opportunity as us.

I agree.
I say 6 conferences, ten teams each.
Ten games a year with a round robin schedule. Winner of each conference gets into the playoffs with a few wild cards.

So we can send Mizzou, aTM, Carolina, and Arky packing

Exactly.
Any playoff layout that doesn't give the best teams a spot is a farce. Right now the SEC has far and away the best teams. So any playoff format where the 2nd best SEC team is one of the top 4 best teams in the country gets left out shouldn't even be considered. The same would hold true for other conferences too, like the year when the B1G had OSU & Michigan at 1 & 2 going into their game, and there was controversy as to whether Michgan should get the rematch, or UF should get to play.

I disagree completely. This is on the premise that the teams who win their conferences have already proven they are the BEST team in that conference (top 4 record in their conference and then won the conference "tourney"). There is no need to have 2 SEC teams in the final 4 if we have already determined who the best SEC team is. Why have, for example, UF and Bama in the final 4 if they already played each other in the conference final game, and UF won. No reason for Bama to be there
There's no perfect solution, but this gives a potential 9-3 SEC champ the same chance to win a title as a potential 12-0 ACC champ
Edit: How pissed would SEC fans be if they got left out of the playoff completely one year because their champ had 2-3 losses against top 15 caliber teams? That solves the problem imo
