If you are referring to JD, I do not have much to say. No where close to AJ's pocket awareness/movement inside the pocket. Also hasn't developed enough to have a timer in his head to throw it away (something he should have learned in HS). Only thing I like about Driskels gm right now is his ability to make plays with his feet when a play breaks down. That was a big reason UF won 11 last yr. He is more challenged in the passing gm than Tebow was, but he has better mechanics. Will all depend on his development.

Not at all, I was referring to Tebow.

I think Driskel has some potential to be that guy but if he does it has not yet blossomed.

a&M just as inexperienced

No. Y'all lose three starters. We return three, and a guy at left tackle who has played three years and is the best tackle in the country. We are far more experienced. Gumps are so silly.

I will be interested to see how JM plays at LT. He's a first round guard/center/RT but wonder if he will struggle with the agility requirements of a LT.

Could end up costing A&M a game or two but cfb has become more about one's NFL career than anything else (less you play for Bama).

Ok so 3 and 2 are SOOO much more different

Bama lost the #10 draft pick (Warmack) and #11 draft pick (Fluker) and C Barrett Jones (4th rd pick)

A&M lost the #2 pick (Joeckel) and their C right? (Not sure)

A&M has an OT they are moving over to LT considered in the top 5

Bama has an OT returning at a LT considered top 5

Bama has an OG returning

Another OG has extensive PT under his belt

C has extensive impressive PT under his belt

Not that much of a difference

I think we can agree that they are both very good and both have been very successful.

Hell, between the two of them they have three national championship rings.

...as well as one SEC rushing title, and one time leading the SEC in pass yards/game (and both of those came in the same season).

And since few would argue that any championship is the result of just one person, which is the more telling statistic in a thread talking about the best at the position?

He's already the best LT in the country Garfield even though he hasn't played the position

I agree with Bama being number 1 if you are just taking the best player. Comparing bama to uga: I'll say the qb's are equal with murray being a better qb but aj has championships. Gurley > yeldon but its close. Cooper > any uga receiver.

If you base it on depth, uga has hutson mason, who is a very solid back up qb. I heard bama fans stating their lack of confidence in their back up qbs. RB depth is pretty even. Bama has more quality backs, but our top two are better in my opinion. Wide receiver is pretty even from a depth perspective. I would give the edge to uga, but overall even.

You act like a blind side tackle is something only found in fairy tales.

And Matthews is a tackle -- not a guard, not a center. Tackles move from the right to the left with some frequency -- at least the good ones do.

Keep coming with all the reasons we slip this year -- JFF going all Maurice Clarett, Matthews making the unheard of transition to RT, Saban having a master plan to render the spread useless, lost a first/second/third round pick, blah, blah, etc.

We're coming for your souls in the fall. Just get ready.

A little late to the discussion, but I'd have A&M over Bama as well. JFF is so far and away the best QB in the land he gives A&M the edge. I'd probably have Cooper over Evans but the gap isn't big enough to catch the gap JFF has.

Also, Alshon was an absolute stud, beast, workhorse in college. I loved the way that kid played, but LOL at comparing him to Green let alone Julio.

Lastly, surprised Clemson is on that list considering how much our RBs suck. I guess Boyd and Sammy is about as good as it gets at QB/WR though.

You must have selective amnesia, we made that same argument with Barrett Jones and how did that work out for us

Sammy Watkins kinda sucked in 2012. He had 1 carry for -3 yards against LSU.

I think LSU should be up there but other that that, it's a fairly solid ranking.

[quote]Tackles move from right to left with some frequency/quote]

It happens, but it's not a frequent thing. Usually the RT lacks the agility, but without a better choice ATM is having to roll the dice and hope JFF's ability to escape the pass rush can overcome a weakness on his blindside.

True Jones moved from guard to LT and won the Outland but he's truly special (ironically for this discussion, I think RT would be The position Barrett would we the least a fit for).
