A&M, UT, Rice and TCU baseball are all well supported in Texas despite having 2 MLB teams. It's a sports culture thing, not an issue of making a choice

All good teams recently. So it's a chicken/egg situation. Plus, aTm has 50,000 students and TCU is in the metroplex and Rice is in Houston.

It's not that simple.

If we were hitting the CWS frequently, I doubt Simmons Field would be abandoned. It will take constant CWS appearances in the Columbia metro area of 200,000 to get the attendance, especially when the alumni bases (that are 100 miles away) have MLB teams.

ETA: if Mizzou was in Kansas City or STL, I doubt this conversation would be needed. Columbia is on a bit of an island. The immediate city has 120,000 people. It's hard to get even 5% of that population interested in bad college baseball to fill Simmons on a daily basis. Especially with no beer.

This is such a ridiculous argument... Starkville and Oxford do it with total populations of 40-50k...
