Why not? Since there are no 4 division conferences out there right now, there are no rules.
Plus, you still have a permanent opponent in each other division that for the most part will be close by and keep rivalries going.
My divisions also allow for the best possible matchups in SEC championship games. Last years was good, but everyone knows in 2011 it would have been better if it would have been LSU vs Bama.
