Give me Merle, George Jones, Hank Williams, Cash, Conway Twitty, Waylon/Willie, old George Strait/Alan Jackson, and maybe even some Charlie Pride and Keith Whitley...and I'm good.
98% of the new stuff is absolutely fricking horrendous. Should just call it Pop Country and be done with it. There was an awful murder on Music Row.

This. I prefer Cory Morrow, RRB, Reckless Kelly, etc. over most of the people listed in this thread
Same. I know you're supposed to like old country the best but most Texas Country artists are just way better.

I like what the hell I want to like, new, old, or in between.

Most country since the new millenium is just pop with a southern accent and stereotypes thrown in.
you might be white trash if you listen to new country

Old Country by a mile. Johnny Cash, George Strait, Hank Jr. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 90% of crap on country radio nowadays.
Though I enjoy Eric Church, Brantley Gilbert, and Kip Moore's stuff. That rock-bluesy country is ten times better than the pop or rap country that most artists are coming out with.

Don't get me wrong, I love me some 90s country, but that's not "old country".

90s country > Texas Country > "Old" Country >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Modern Nashville Pop Country
The 90s were country's glory years. Garth, Brooks and Dunn, King George, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, JMM, Toby Keith before he sucked, Vince Gill, etc. all at the top of their game.
The only type of country worth listening to right now is Texas country. Give me Reckless Kelly, Wade Bowen, Roger Creager, Randy Rogers, etc. over that crap Nashville puts out.

I will add to this list:
Jason Aldean
Dierks Bentley
Brad Paisley
Keith Urban
Darius Rucker
And that's just off the top of my head. I like Johnny Cash, and George Strait, as well, but saying the older music is "better" just because it's older is poppycock
