I'm not sure Mett is a natural leader. Hope he develops into one.
That was kinda my impression of him (sorta a maverick type). I think that's a tough think to develop, but it can be done.

Mett was playing the game of his life, AJ had freshly broken ribs, and his two top WRs were hurt.
And we had a patch-work OL and our starting RB out

He was hyped up way too much for someone who's only experience at the SEC level was a spring game at UGA.
If yawl land LF - do you think this may be a problem for him too? I think Hershel Walker and AD were really hyped out of HS and it didn't effect them (not sure about Bo) but a lot of the super hyped kids have trouble on the next level despite talent (e.g., Bryce Brown and Russell Shepard).

All this time I was told bama fans were ABOVE making EXCUSES.
How effective you think mccarron would have been if not even halfway in the season he loses warmack, jones and fluker for the year? Plus lacey after the second game.
As for mett. The O-line finally developed some consistency the last four regular season games. That helped them a great deal.

Mett has a lot of potential but didn't impress anyone too much save 1 and a half quarters of the Bama game.
Clemson and Arkansas games were pretty meh.
Hopefully last year was just a warmup for a great season in 2013.

Turnstile at tackle is putting it mildly.

The last four games of the season (bama, state, ole miss and arky) Mett performed quite well. He avg just above 265 passing a game. That would translate to a 3,000 yard season.
Also had 15 completions of 20+ yards and eight of those were for 30 yards or more.
We'll see if he can build upon those.

and Nussmeier had a cold that night which made it difficult to understand the calls he was making.

YO allbamadoesiswinuntiltheylose, question please.
Who were bama's top two WRs? When did they get hurt? Was it during the LSU game or sometime before?

The difference here is lil nicky will have a little more than a WEEK to get those replacements ready.

Just curious as the who they were and when they got hurt. That #2 WR in particular.
Do you know who he talking about? I know cooper went down sometime in the LSU game. Not sure when though.

Mettenberger is what happens when great talent meets bad circumstance and poor coaching. Miles, for all his abilities, is an absolutely awful developer of QB talent. And we all know about Mett's personal struggles in HS and at Georgia.

Probably true/fair, but not sure which top top coach really is considered a "great" QB developer. Before A.J. (the exception) Saban won with game managers, Tebow got worse while under Meyer, Cam was Cam and there was no other. Been awhile since a BCS Championship was won by a coach who was a "great" QB developer.

Well yes, doesn't one need to show they are good in order to be good?

Technically correct. I think the point of the article was "he hasn't proved it yet." I just wanted to know if people agree with that - I only saw a handful of LSU's games and he looked good to me (when he had time and didn't get killed with drops).

I knew that Mett would have his struggles in 2012. There is so much to be said for experience in the SEC.
I do think he'll have a sizeable improvement in 2013 save for a couple of games where he flings it around and doesn't protect the ball.
