I thought it was soon to become a trend for Auburn coaches to go to some low tier big 12 school

Why would Muschamp leave Florida for LSU? I can't see that one.
+1. Maybe a lateral step football-wise, but overall a step down.

Saban-retired soon to be AD succeeded by Kirby
You'd have to be out of your mind to have that abrasive a-hole run your athletic department. He does not have the temperament for it. Now he's an excellent football coach, but you are flirting with disaster by having him run the AD.

Maybe but for giggles let's say Bama wins next year and LSU loses to Bama/A&M/Florida/UGA and heaven forbid something like a weird clock loss to OM/Arky. The heat would be nuts on him new contract or not.
Name the coaches that five losses wouldn't put the heat on them. It's like Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Bama but the leash would get real short. Of course that scenario would put heat on anyone.
Imagine if Bama went 2-10 with losses to Auburn, UT, LSU, A&M, Arkansas, and were shut out in 3 of the 10 losses. I bet Saban's seat could be warm national title or not, no?
See how ridiculous that is?

Well, IMO, the wins are getting harder and harder to come by (especially in the West).
Somebody will have to be in the cellar and it's going to be tougher to win (unless you are playing the weaker SEC schedules).
SEC is just unreal right now

I can tell you first hand (because I have met the man and know his mind) Franklin would never leave Vandy for a place like LSU. Franklin is by no means a redneck nor would he ever fit into that culture.
Then you're an idiot. Baton Rouge & the five parish Metro-Baton Rouge area has one of the most ethnically, racially & religiously diverse demographic compositions in the entire SEC, including your precious Nashville.
While I can't say you don't know the man, I can say unequivocally you don't know shite about Baton Rouge or what we bring to the table culturally. If you did, you'd never utter such an ignorant statement.
quote:
If he leaves, it would be for some place like USC, Arizona, Ohio State, North Carolina, Florida etc.....
Outside of USC or UF, any of those places would be a lateral at best, or a step down to be quite honest.

Vandy is currently paying him 3.5 million now
Which means we're already paying our HC a million dollars per year more + staff salaries from coordinators down to S&C staff exponentially higher than anything you can offer.

and promising to deliver a state of the art stadium. Any team luring him away will have to pay dearly.
We could actually just pay what we're paying now and snag him easily. We'd offer superior facilities, tradition, access to a better talent pool with easier admission requirements and a track-record of success that Vanderbilt can't dream of in its wildest GHB-fueled REM cycles.
Your rallying cry may be Anchor Down, but trust me, he'd set sail if we came calling. You're flatteirng yourself way too much.

Were you not flattering yourself and city by starting this thread and suggesting Franklin would possibly end up in Baton Rouge in five years. Well, I have been to the land of flat delta and oil refineries, and I can say without hesitation, it is you who are guilty of flattering yourself.

Greener pastures than the richest and largest university in the conference with access to the best talent in the country? You're an idiot.

Apparently Texas A&M is the best football school in the country

lightyears better than arkansas.
Sumlin isn't leaving for an OC gig in the NFL or OU. OU is a lateral move at this point. I could see him leaving for an NFL HC job, but I think he really enjoys recruiting.

give me one reason why anyone would think Nick will retire in 5 years? He already has all the money he needs, He has proven he is the best active coach, He coaches because he enjoys it and enjoys being the best- He will continue to coach until he is significantly challenged
or some NFL team goes crazy with money to lure him

His wife is on record saying that winning isn't even fun anymore, just relieving. She also said Kirby would make a great replacement. I wouldn't be surprised if she tries pressuring him into retiring.
