Other than a few on an internet message board, you wouldn't find anyone in Missouri saying they are southern or more southern now that Mizzou is in the SEC. Missouri is too proud of its BBQ to associate itself with such crap.

Don't confuse the purpose of collegiate conference with geography. Outside of ocean, desert and mountain areas, hard to distinguish most states from another (at least in summer season.) Anyone who has driven throughout USA knows this.
OP, don't concern yourself with "hate" for Mizzou. SECRant posters are just hazing the noobs. Rational thought has nothing to do with it,
