If there is one thing I hate it is running. I do it BC I have to. I wish I had the desire to run a half.

Hey, taking my wife to NYC this summer (U2 in Madison Square Garden). Where should we stay, eat and must see?
The pros to staying near Times Square: great transportation access, very lively area, lots to do (all the Broadway shows are there), tons of hotels to choose from, there's no other place like it in the USA
Cons: loud, crowded, has a bit of a "Disney Land" feel, most of the restaurants and shops cater to tourists which generally means "lowest common denominator", isn't frequented by NYC residents except for Broadway theaters
All things considered, Times Square is probably the best area to stay in unless you've already seen it before and you know you don't want to stay there. It's just so damn convenient for visitors.
As for eating, is there anything in particular you guys love? Anything you can't get where you live now? NYC is full of great restaurants so it's a daunting task to make good recommendations without knowing what you're looking for. Yelp is a really great website for finding good restaurants--I've found the reviews to be very reliable.
If you're considering going to Top of the Rock or Empire State Building to see the view, you might consider going someplace like [link=LINK of the Standard Hotel[/link] instead. You still get an amazing view of the city, and you don't have to wait in a stupidly long line, or buy tickets (which I think are $30 a person). Drinks do cost $20 and the view isn't quite as good, but it's a really impressive venue and a better option than Top of the Rock or Empire State Building, in my opinion. Take a look at the pictures and decide for yourself.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is also a nice place to visit, especially if the weather turns sour. It has so many different kinds of exhibits that there's something for everybody. It's hard to go wrong with the Met.
It's also a good idea to consider going to a Broadway show. Which one really depends on what you're into. Yelp is good for researching your options.

Was thinking about staying at Times Square but you hit the nail on the head in regards to food. I want a great steakhouse one night and probably find good American, French or Italian other nights. Gonna make the wife eat in delis for breakfast and lunch. (She's never been to NYC and I've only been a couple of times). If you have any favorites let me know. I'm not a big fan of seafood or most Asian cuisines, so that limits me quite a bit. I'm a steak and potatoes kind of guy.
Thinking about a bus tour one day, just to be able to hit so many areas, albeit lightly.
I do want a roadway show but will have to see what is playing in late July. I will also see if the Yankees are in town. I like museums, she's not a it fan of art though.

For steak, consider: Peter Luger, Keens, Benjamin Steak, Porter House
For delis, it really depends on where you are. NYC is chock full of good delis. The most famous, of course, is Katz's Deli (When Harry Met Sally). 2nd Ave Deli is also well known. But yeah I'd go with whatever is most convenient to your location at the time.

Since it's only the two of you, and you won't mind a small room: I really like the Hudson. The location is really great (walk to Central Park and tons of other stuff).
Another route to investigate is Airbnb.com
Basically like VRBO, but shorter rentals. Some really great deals there if you don't mind staying in an apartment instead of a hotel.

I'll add Club A Steakhouse as a good option. Love that place. Midtown East, family owned/run. Owner SHOWERED us with free appetizers, dessert, and drinks when we went for my birthday one year. Just above and beyond. Extremely nice older dude that has a lot of pride in his restaurant.
If you go to the Standard, make sure you hit up the beer garden downstairs. Fun times.

Ditto on airbnb. My parents and sister's family found a nice apartment less than 100 ft from our front door... Cheaper than a hotel AND you get more space.

Yeah I forgot about AirBNB. My dad used that once when he came to visit and was able to stay half a block away from us for very cheap.

I still haven't gone to the Standard beer garden. I hear good things about it. When I hit up a beer garden, I go to Bohemian in Astoria (I live in Queens). That place is awesome, albeit out of the way for anyone who isn't in Queens.

Made it 30 minutes on the treadmill without stopping!

Today I run 6 miles and do abs. Protien shake, granola, and half a banana for breakfast.
My workout routine for about a month now has been:
Monday: legs/shoulders
Tuesday: run 6 miles/abs
Wednesday: back/bis
Thursday: run 6 miles/abs
Friday: chest/tris
Saturday: rest
Sunday: run 2 miles / do 50 pull ups, 100 pushups, 150 air squats / run 2 more miles / then do abs
Like the results I've seen. Down to 228lbs from the 250lbs I was at after taking a year off before hitting it hard again last October.

I am 100% back at it! Well, not at the same levels but I will get there.
My arse needs to be focusing on the squat rack and HIIT the most right now.
Part of my problem is my job. When I go on visits I'm getting free food and alcohol.

I try not to run other than when playing soccer. I'm in decent shape but too small I think. 185-190 @ 5'11 so I'm taking my best friends approach in going pretty much weights only workouts trying to bulk up instead of cut. My metabolism is just a mf'er for gaining weight/getting bigger.

hooo boy the holidays were rough on me. in the last two months I've literally gained ten pounds, and I've probably lost a good amount of muscle during the same period. can't make it a mile without stopping.
i'm on week 2 of p90x3 and it really drives home how much my body has changed from my 20s to my 30s. I feel so uncoordinated and like my feet are made of concrete when trying to do a lot of the moves.

Two pieces of good news this morning! First, the high weigh in on Monday was obviously high due to excessive sodium intake over the weekend, because I normalized pretty quickly! Probably actually lost another 1.5 lbs this week. Only 2 lbs from where I was in mid-November!
Also....35 minutes this morning and bumped up my speed just the tiniest smidgen!
