This is the sentiment that I don't understand. This season was not Pinkel's only shortcoming.
I will never know why people reduce it down as if its only this season that was the problem. As if we thought he was an elite coach and just got a tough break. Honestly since 2008 we have been pretty average. Since the OU (a major benchmark in recent Mizzou history) game we have been pretty bad. Do you seriously consider 2011 a good year? We have been on the decline for 2 years now. Its a joke what happened at Texas Tech in 2010 (the start of the criticism in my opinion). I mean what has been a good win since OU? Texas was overrated, TAMU was also. I can definitely point to bad losses within that timeframe.

I am going to stay optimistic and expect to see them get back to at least a winning record.
And honestly your standards are too low if all you want is a winning record. 6-6 and a Indy bowl win shouldnt cut it for you anymore. The man has been here 12 years. This isnt 1980 anymore. He wanted raised expectations and he has them. Now produce. I am not attacking you whatsoever, but at a certain point I want the program to be elevated. If he isnt the guy to do it, then somebody else needs to come in.
By the way Kilo I know you didnt say the second quote. Just quoting it out of your reply.

Some of you guys... I don't know what to say.
We had the game on the line during the final drive of like 6 games this year, only won 2 of those I believe. Had it not been for zero continuity at QB, losing your best athlete (Josey), and most of your starting o-line you've got to think we win a few more of those close games. Which would mean none of this Pinkel talk would even be happening.

Please stop. We were also 2 plays away from being 3-9. See how this game works? At a certain point the hypotheticals go out of the window. You are what your record says you are. Who cares how close we came to winning. We lost. There is a reason we came to that situation and couldnt finish the job so many times. We are what we are.

I think until proven otherwise, the issue is less Pinkel and more about recruiting a different type of player that can play in the SEC. That's JMO.

Yeah having no continuity at qb, no Josey, and no o-line didn't have anything to do with it..
I don't really care how close we came to winning, but if you want to be a rational person and not just a dude complaining on the internet, you'd probably want to consider the circumstances.
But so be it, I hope you got your Pinkel faced dart board for Christmas.

I'd have to agree with this perspective.
Mizzou has a new OC, no QB coach that I know of yet. We have no idea who will be QBing our offense, who will be the RB.
The defense is in the same boat really. It's just all a mystery right now.
But I agree your only as good as your last game in my book, and we stink up the place according to our last game. This was a team with no direction in thier last outing. Reguardless of injuries and stuff. We were just outclassed by A&M from top to bottom.
I agree with Belle also. Our teams success will lie more in the recruiting aspect than in the coaching. I think Pinkel can still get us where we need to go as far as on the field play. But it also largely depends on the players to execute the gameplan. That was some of this teams problem, but not all. I still feel that Yost was in over his head and didn't have what it took to prepair his players to execute the gameplan. The defense was there most the year, but playing most of the game due to lack of offense, they get worn down. They also lacked the depth.
I'm not making a prediction until I see who is filling in these unknown positions. We have three promising QB's with a real chance to gain the starting QB spot. We will have alot more team speed comming in also. So RB is up in the air also. New OL comming in. Same for the defense. There are just too many unknowns at this point.

At what point was Missouri a basketball school? Did I miss something?
Does accumulating zero Big 12 championships equate to "basketball school"?
Last I checked, a school by the name of Kansas owns you and everything basketball related in the Big 12.

So how did all of those things effect us in the Syracuse game. Ill sit here and wait. Texas A&M.
You are right man. Injuries all the way. Nothing else. I hope this recruiting class we are bringing in is reassuring your concerns about the depth of our team by the way, of course since it is only injuries.

Would have walked out with the Conference Championship too if not for the phantom foul at the end on Tyshawn.

Beaker redleg scum trying to troll on the board of a conference far superior to the one his school is in or would ever be invited to join. Enjoy your handcuffed conference with the dream that someday you'll be able to play with the big boys.
