Persistence. Don't flake out. No job is perfect or ever will be. It is what you make it out to be.
I sound like a self help book.

This x 1000. I hate my job most of the time but I've worked hard, it's paid for my masters, and I make enough money where I don't have to worry. Pretty good life.

On a sidenote, I have a relative that runs mid size delivery trucks. He is looking at trying to get out of the parcel delivery service and into something more 9 - 5. Owns his trucks and has drivers, he is looking into delivering in the med or oil/gas sector. Not sure if anyone on here has any experience in distribution.

Thanks! And, of course, I completely missed the mark on an item I was asked to write today. The requestor absolutely hated it. I'm still cringing every time I think about it!
Oh well, tomorrow's another day!

I tried to inject a little personality into an otherwise mundane announcement. Sent him the draft and he immediately responded that he didn't like the tone. I should have known...I haven't detected much of a sense of humor from him.
Worst part is that things are starting to slow down for the holidays, so I may not really have a chance to redeem myself for 2 weeks...
ETA: I'm probably obsessing over this way too much. It's just that since this is a career change for me, I'm anxious to make a really good impression.

What is he saying? "You blew it?" If so, yes, yes I did!

I agree. The thing is, forget it ever happened and start over b/c you learned something from his response

Well I majored in broadcast journalism and TV is hardly a dying field. There are tons of things you can do with a journalism degree besides writing for a newspaper.

Be patient. Your first job will not be your last job.

I'm an independent landman doing oil leases in western Kansas and southern Nebraska. Its a tough field to get into and involves constant travel but every day is different.
CtotheV, I'm working with a group out of Wichita and live in Topeka. Also have lots of connections in KC. Not sure what your venture entails but I might could help or at least get you in contact with people in the area. HamMaloneTD@gmail

I know a lot of people in the south LA area in the oilfield. There are a number of jobs available in operating offshore. They are especially looking for younger people coming out of the military and experienced hands.
