The hit on AJ was the very definition of an above the neck hit on a defenseless player.
I knooooooooow. I've heard this a million times.
Let me reiterate.

Yes, it was a cheap shot on a defenseless player. Quarterbacks get special treatment in football now-a-days. I'm not saying that I agree with it, but they do. You just can't breathe on a qb, even after a turnover, which the head of the SEC officials stated. You guys know it was dirty and should have been flagged. The only reason I think he should be suspeneded is because the league has suspended other players for "hitting too hard". But yet again, Bama is protected.
I'm glad to see you're not letting your education get in the way of your ignorance.

You think that gives you a non-prejudiced opinion. Your opinion was formed before kickoff.

He was a defender movings towards the ball carrier. Not paying attention does not mean defenseless. He got caught slipping plain and simple.

So again I don't have a problem with the hit itself. I have a problem with the way the rules call something's and not others.
I fully agree with you about this. I think the league will give an edge to the teams that have the best records when a grey area pops up. In this game though, there were inconsistencies on both sides.

You're just portraying from the eye of the uneducated viewer. If they don't know the rules, why are they harping on it so strongly, and why should anyone heed their lamentations?

UK and UT didn't win the "You Won, But WE Outplayed You" bowl, though.

To be fair, we're all biased for our teams...the difference is that I can acknowledge when the rules override my personal favoritism.

Show me one post where I've bitched about the hit on this forum.
Also, my posts in this thread don't include an opinion about the hit or the rules itself. I said, "I think the uproar wouldn't have been as loud if..."
Damn y'all are an insufferable bunch.

LSU played UK last year. We should get our turn too.

Kentucky beat LSU the last time LSU won a NC

Meh. Without that unforced fumble they don't even get to get the opportunity to get their kicked blocked by :cantthinkofthemountain'sname:

I am a huge bama fan and i am glad dial is not suspended. I do feel like it was a legal hit by the rulebook but...... i do think it should have been called unnecessary roughness. He had the right to hit him and should have hit him....but i was shocked it was not called as unnecessary roughness. When the qb starts to run after an interception he is fair game....He should have cut him in half at the waist.....not a shot to the head.

Because even though the McCarron hit was a hit on a defenseless player attempting to throw the ball, it wasn't as violent as the Murray hit. It comes across as a discrepancy in officiating because people think both hits are within the same circumstance.
Again, had the McCarron hit not been flagged, there wouldn't be such an outcry about the Murray hit IMO.

I don't know or care.

So, because people who don't know the rules see that Murray got hit hard, it should be flagged. Gotcha.
And people wonder why the country is going soft.
