If he stays, we have to think the ncaa smoke is nothing. Right?

This, and what thirdlawson posted......I constantly hear how he is a dirty recruiter (mostly from fan bases that lost recruits to him) but I have never known of him actually getting in any kind of trouble other than the Big Cat weekend thing.

And the one plus I do like about him is he seems to really piss off bama fans on some deep, psychological level.

Anyone who is a good recruiter is "dirty"....Rodney Garner, Jeremy Pruitt, Dameyune Craig, etc...

Have we got in serious trouble for anything with Troop recruiting? No

Is he a great recruiter? Yes

I'd say keep him for the time being.

As has already been said, we'll find out more about this "investigation" based on whether Gus retains him.

I had received a "Chain" email talking about his character issues and all of the off field issues. Stating that he seperated the team into Chiziks boys and troopers "Thugs." I dont believe it for a minute. He is a good coach, a great recruiter and the man can get the team AND the fans pumped more so than anyone else. I say keep him for now, and see how much truth there are to the accusations.

I'll say yes or no, depends.

Gus knows if Trooper is tainted and a cancer. I would lean toward keeping him, sign the class and re-evaluating his tenure post signing day.

Foster and AJ Johnson have both said if Troop stays, they stay.

Yes we keep him. It drives the Gump nation nuts.

I really don't care about the recruiting class

Would love to keep foster, but I'm totally ok with ditching troop

Really don't know how much of his reputation is real and how much is made up. And he may not actually commit big recruiting and NCAA rules violations, but I don't like the fact that we have constantly been involved in an NCAA investigation since his arrival, no matter how the investigation ended.

So I guess I'd be totally cool with him leaving and feel a little more comfortable, but if he stayed I don't think it would be the deciding factor in Gus' success.

You gotta figure Gus has a handle on what the real issues were on this team. If he feels that Trooper was part of the division, then I think he'll cut him loose.
