The difference: If UGA loses and UF gets the Sugar, UF would be in a BETTER bowl than the division winner of their division. Last year, bama got an EQUAL bowl (in fact, the SAME bowl) as the division winner of bama's division.
P.S. I don't agree with Saban. SECCG Winner should get the BCSCG, UF should get the Sugar, and the loser should get one of the crappy bowls.
UF has earned it against a significantly tougher schedule than either bama or UGA.
Until the massive chasms in schedule difficulty from team to team in the conference are shrunk, this will become a common theme.
