quote:moore is a projected top 5 pick, hes gone. joeckel is a projected top 10 pick, hes gone. matthews is a projected late 1st rounder, he probably stays. matthews probably gets moved to LT and we fill in the holes. we actually have a decent OL pipeline going on. while the plug ins obviously wont be able to replicate joeckels value, we wont be as fricked as many on the rant seem to believe
Are the tackles and Moore projected in the 1st round?

i say not much possibility. defenses will adjust and he will become gino smith; win some big games but always drop some too. he is more accurate than smith but a&m loses a lot this year. if bama would have played containment on him like LSU they would have won.

Not the way he was dropping those passes right on the money.

Schwaggies usually give up in the early to mid 3rd quarter so i'd give them 10+ years...

Sorry that our quarterback is actually relevant to the team's success. It's not like LSU where you can put any rag-arm SOB in there and pull out a win.
I guess that's a compliment

I think that they will be battling with AR, Auburn, MSU, and Ole Miss for 3rd in the West for most of their foreseeable future.

Will STILL be 5th best in the SEC by year 3.

All of these crap threads are due to one shitty quarter by Alabama.
One shitty fracking quarter . . . geez.
On behalf of Bama fans everywhere, I apologize. It will not happen again.

Anything is possible. Manziel is becoming more and more a quarterback each game, and less of a jackrabbit back there. On offense, this team is STACKED, and the chances are much better that both OL return than most realize.
On defense, we will have much more depth in the next few years, as our depth was CRAP this year. Keep the staff intact, and anything is impossible. And recruiting? Sumlin will pick who he wants for the next few years. He just has that "it" factor, and kids LOVE to play for him.

Could it be that Sherman left Sumlin with a decent amount of of talent?

Losing a clutch player like Swope next year will hurt a lot. Luckily you have a big receiver in Mike Evans, but I don't know if you have anyone who gets consistently open like Swope for TDs.

Dude, you got to get to Atlanta at least once before you get all excite about winning the SEC. And you will be playing Alabama and LSU every year.
You TAMU guys must have some great mind expanding drugs.

I dont think anything is a given but I think it's pretty clear that Sumlin, as a first year HC, hit the ground running.
The only other two programs/ HC's to win 9+ games in their first season (talking about in the SEC in recent memory) are Urban Meyer at Florida (9-3 in his first year) and Les Miles who was 10-1.
With Sam Houston State and Mizzou as our last two games, we have a very good chance to be 10-2 in Sumlins first year, with our only losses being to two top 10 teams by a combined total of 8 points.
Yes, we'll lose some talent next year but that's true of every team. The move to the SEC, media attention of a heisman candidate QB, and early success of Sumlin has us lining up to sign a top 10 recruiting class. We'll probably see that continue in to 2014. We signed a top 15 class in 2012.
If you have a good coach and start stacking top 10-15 recruiting classes, you have a pretty good record for success.
Anything can happen and most A&M fans realize that but we're off to a pretty good start. The win over Bama doesnt make us elite because of the win itself BUT what it does do is get us a lot of positive momentum in recruiting considering we're now ranked in the top 10. Most recruits were being told we couldnt compete in the SEC...having 10 wins in our first year legitimizes us a little bit and helps build going forward.

it's possible but let's not forget they have to play Bama AND LSU every year within their division. That's a tough schedule in itself.

No doubt... Even Bama and LSU have a hard time getting out of the SEC without a loss or two, in the years they've played for AND WON the SEC and National Titles.

Looks like A&M's only path to SECCG next year is with a win at home vs Bama

Lets not lose our heads. They are one JFF injury away from being extremely average.

That JFF is blazing trails says nothing about what would happen when he leaves.
