I'm so tired of people that have never been to Mississippi or Ole Miss trying to dictate what we should do. If you don't understand the traditions and don't have first hand experience of the culture and what everything means to the people that call it home stop trying to tell me what "Ole Miss" and "Rebels" should mean to me. Neither of these phrases have racist connotations in my mind.

In addition, if you're not from Mississippi or not alumni or a student of Ole Miss (or just a fan), then you have no fricking business telling US how to deal with OUR history and OUR perceptions.

I get so pissed when people say "OMG Y'ALL SHOULD HAVE NEVER GOTTEN RID OF DIXIE AND THE FLAG!!1" Really? We shouldn't have? Then why did your school get rid of those things? I think a lot of people outside of Ole Miss see what they want to see in Ole Miss, and that's either "Ole Miss is a proud bastion of 'our' Southern 'heritage'" or "TSUN IS RACIST LOL!1"

And, by the way, I just got here, and I'm not reading this entire thread. Here's the skinny from here on out: all of you motherfrickers who aren't me are wrong.

Ole Miss pep band played Dixie at War Memorial in Little Rock. Was sitting maybe 20 yards from them.
