It's an ages old tradition from the days when they HAD to play in LR to survive, monetarily. Little Rock pulled them through. First started playing at Quigley Field in LR, before War Memorial was built.

...arkansas playing in Little Rock has everything to do with politics, and nothing to do with anything else.

It also has to do with the opportunity of people from the remoter southern parts of the state to watch the football team from the equally remote NW part of the state.

as someone from those "remote" areas of the state, I call BS! It's a freakin interstate all the way to nam. It's 2 hours to WMS for me, and every bit of 4 to DWRRS. As I said the other day, I'd rather drive backwards while blindfolded using the pig trail than keep playing in LR.

As I have stated, with so many fans feeling this way in really surprised they have kept playing there but I know there are reasons for it and I suppose the fans bitching about it still go to the game so I guess the AD doesn't really care

I know Fayetteville is all the way in the northwest corner of the state but its not like there's something wrong with their stadium or campus.
Have you been to Southern Arkansas. Doubt if those trashy fans can afford to drive all the way to Fayetteville for a game. I drive from the north part of Arkansas to the SE parts going to Louisiana. I can't imagine those poor cotton pickin, pine tree, bastards driving all the way to F'ville.

no AD has had the balls to pull all the games out (nor will they anytime soon)...
The current contract for WMS ends in 2014. Starting with the 2015 season, all games will be played in Fayetteville.

1 in 30 Arkansas threads will dissolve into a GSD.
We actually had one a little while back that some really good discussion. The factors that drove the split home games are no longer an influence. The infrastructure to travel to NWA easily from all parts Arkansas is nearly in place, we have the new airport with coast to coast flights, and the great migration has shifted population northwestward.
The Arkansas economy while still largely agrarian based has obviously evolved with the monster that is Wal*Mart. The big money guys in LR (Stephens, Dillard, Ford, and a few attorneys and legislators) are seeing their influence diminish as their companies are sold off or face financial difficulty. Even one of NWA's biggest resident boosters (Lindsey)still has a soft spot for LR games as he was a plantation kid from Forrest City.
I don't think we ever got a public stance from Win Rockefeller, but I assume he pushed for LR games.
It's a tradition that we have to do away with, the stakes are too high not to. I'm good with 1 LR game a year against a decent opponent. I'd really like to play a service academy there since it is called "War Memorial Stadium". I just wish Arkansas wasn't so slow to react the facts of life, but that's how it is, everything moves and responds slower there.

Memphis is closer to Fayetteville, Ark by over an hour than it is to Knoxville, Tenn. Therefore, the driving excuse is just an excuse plus in today's world is about the population to proximity when referencing the vast majority of the stadium population.
The days playing in Little Rock are numbered. It's not a coincidence as Fayetteville is expanding to 83,000+ around the same year the contract is up on Little Rock games.
However, they can keep 1 game a year there as far as I'm concerned but the rest if not all will be moved to the Hill. It is true that Little Rock and it's money basically built the Arkansas program as it was a direct highway to Memphis and Dallas. However, times have changed and ASU can have Little Rock for games to help grow their marketing if they so wish.

Tradition, when it starts affecting the 10 other teams in the league you can then start bitching about it, OK?
