Disagree. I think the bad decision was not lining up under center. He didn't want to give the ball back to Manziel because they had already gotten their momentum going. I think if we had punted they still would have scored.

I dont disagree with Freeze in going for it on 4th, but he should have gone under center.

The only thing I didn't like about that call was not putting Parker, Mackey, or Mathers in.

Wasn't Jeff Scott carrying the ball on that play? He only weighs about 75 lbs. but he is fast. Anyway...it's all hindsight now and if he had made the first down, it would have been a great call.

It reminds when Nutt would sometimes give Shawn Andrews the ball in that type of situation. He was huge and anybody who had the misfortune of landing underneath him never forgot about it.

Very good hire. He didn't have much talent when he arrived, but he did a very good job of moving people around to give them the best opportunity to succeed. Signing Wallace was big. I like Brunetti, but without Wallace, the offense wouldn't be nearly as successful. Wallace is still making some very bad decisions, but that should improve as he gets more experience against SEC defenses.
+1

Freeze has those players motivated and fighting every single play. If OleMiss beats Auburn this weekend, it will be a huge momentum boost for that team.

Wouldnt have been a bad idea to put Mackey in and make it look like a sneak but hit a WR on a quick hitch right past the first down line.

I honestly didn't mind the shotgun call. We don't run under center and i think a heavier back falls forward. Freeze made the call he thought would win the game. I want a coach who makes the tough call and backs up his decision.

As far as the 4th down call...would you say he..froze..up?

But really. He has surpassed what I thought anyone could do at ole miss already.

He explained the call and it made more sense. He said he did try a QB under center play earlier in the game and that y'all switched to a "bear" defenses and ended up a yard in the backfield. He went with the shotgun to Scott because they had gained yard on that every time they ran it that night. The reason it didn't work that play is because ags sent an extra db and he made a play.

Here's his quote on the 4th down call. I disagreed with the call, but you have to respect his stance on it and not backing down to tough questions.

quote:

“I want to be clear. I would go for that again,” Freeze said. “Every. Single. Time. On fourth and an inch with a game on the line, for our team to win it in the state of the program that we’re in and not give that ball back to Johnny Manziel and the A&M offense.”

quote:

He also explained for the first time why exactly he called a handoff to running back Jeff Scott out of a shotgun formation, instead of a more conventional quarterback sneak.“Do I sit around and second-guess the call? Absolutely,” Freeze said. “You better believe I do. I’m my worst critic. But the decision, since everybody has an opinion I’ll be glad to share you mine — the first time we do that and go quarterback sneak, which is my natural progression to do and I’ve proven that through the games, they go to a bear defense and end up about a yard in our backfield. That’s the decision not to do the sneak, because I thought they would jump in bear again and we would have our hands full. Obviously I wish we had it over now and we would call something different. But I had about five seconds to make that decision.”

Good hire. Great maybe, but good. Lots of potential there, and he certainly has them going in the right direction. And he's easy to like, too.

For now yes...but don't be surprise to see a fall off like what happened to Vandy from last year to this year

I mean, I guess so. I had never heard of the guy. When I hear the name "Freeze" I think of that Arnold Schwarteneger character in the Batman movie. Sure, seems like they're better than last yr.

He helped turn around the Arkansas State Indians from 4-8 in 2010 to 10 - 2 in 2011. Basically by doing exactly what he's doing at Ole Miss. Now given.. that was a Sun Belt School and their defenses aren't that great, but there are some competitive schools in the Sun Belt.. Arkansas and Auburn found that out this year..

Only thing Freeze really needs to do is get some good WRs with great hands and a top 10 defense. Freeze's Offensive style could work as long as he has a solid SEC style defense that can stop the run and do good man / zone pass protection. Relying on your Offense to win the game is something the Big 12 does, it does not work in the SEC.
