So which is it, sip, defamation of character or libel? You're guilty of both so pick one.

Agree the YPA has to go up but the sample size is tiny. They had no problem moving the ball against SMU or in the first half against UF but went nowhere in the second half in that game. That was also the first game for both the system and the QB though.
The next 4 weeks A&M plays SC State, Arkie, Ole Miss, and La Tech. No one in that stretch plays defense so the YPA should go through the roof but that won't matter much either.
The key is if they can get through that stretch with the offense clicking well enough to move the ball against a quality D the next week with LSU. The likely answer is no but at least by then they should be getting comfortable with how to run it properly.

I think its a reflection of the players lack of maturation within the offense. It will go up as they all get more comfortable.
Or it could stagnate and plateau once you hit the heart of your SEC schedule.
Either way, I think Manziel will be a fantastic player for A&M as a Soph and moving forward from there.

Yes...and a blast to watch. I'm making a point to watch A&M games only because of him

And I am no hypocrite and still mourn the loss of a couple of really good football players that had the same problems Manziel has.
He is a college kid who got into a scuffle on Northgate and had a fake ID in his wallet. This is way more common amongst college kids than home invasion and rolling around town drunk and high with illegal weapons.

Joe Montana didn't have problems with arm strength like Tebow or Johnny Football.
Tim Tebow threw the ball 50 yards on 1 knee when he was 12. He's never had problems with arm strength. His best throw is the deep ball.

We all know about the added strength Tebow gets on one knee. Unfortunately that isn't a legal football move.

Oh really? Please do enlighten us on his arrest record.
Lets not bring up Mack Brown's stellar history with players and arrests:
This year:
Kenny Vaccaro
Barrett Matthews
Alex Okafor
Recent Memory:
Brandon Collins
Cedric Benson x 2 - Thats just in College

texas wishes they had manziel so bad. I live in Austin and tailgate at a lot of their games. I've not found a single UT fan who knows anything about football that wouldn't trade Ash for Manziel.

Ash is pretty good, no? You guys can't see it because of your hate but I thought he was on the money in the little I saw of their destruction of OM.

first good game he has had but yes he looks better than last year when he could barely complete a 10 yard pass

That was certainly his best game so far, but he has been very average up until then. He couldn't separate himself as the starter all of last year.
Most burnt orange fans have not been his biggest supporter.

YPA - 7.08
That's TERRIBLE for any variant of the Air-Raid. 235 yards/game is also somewhat low especially considering the competition they've gone up against-admittedly UF is good but SMU is several rungs beneath them on the ladder.
I would agree the YPA is a bit low, but is also a bit misleading. First of all, the sample size is quite small with only two games so far (one of which was against an excellent defense). Its also ignoring the fact that he has run for 184 yds at 6.1 ypc, which is a rare addition for a spread passing offense.

Exactly. With the way are running the ball the name "Air Raid" is extremely misleading.

He's been arrested once - for underage drinking, fighting, and having a false ID. It happened this summer. There are minor warning signs about what he is like off the field, but nothing major. There is good reason to think he'll keep it together. Ricky Williams certainly had "substance abuse issues" during his time in Austin, and he did okay. At least, until he went bat shite crazy. Hell, Cedric Benson was going around busting people's doors in, and he did okay.

I can't think of a major program that doesn't have these issues. Texas certainly has and I am sure most of the teams in the SEC deal with it as well. My comment is directed specifically at this kid and three brushes with the law all with alcohol involved. If he has gotten picked up three times, he is either the most unlucky kid in the world or he does it a lot. I am going with the latter and betting it impacts his college career.
As an aside, Greg Davis was OC at Texas when Ash was offered over JW Walsh. He didn't even take the time to see Manziel play and it was a mistake because the kid was the most exciting high school prospect in the state his senior year.
If he can keep his nose clean, I think the aggies are right in that he will be a good player for them. Keeping his nose clean will be tough for a kid that has a drinking problem in a town where he will never have to pay for a drink.

Texas has always been great at keeping star players together just long enough to get them through school and then they blow up. Ricky Williams, Vince Young, Cedric Benson, the list goes on.
Manziel was a 19 year old (who has been in college for 2 years) who was at a bar with some buds and a fight broke out so he got busted with his fake ID. Most college students either had that happen to them or they got lucky with a cop that was in a better mood than Manziel had that night. He has done everything he had to do to show he is back on track and it was a one time incident.
I'd say it's a bit of a stretch to act as though he is strung out on drugs.
