I'm going to be in Columbia on business for a few days next week. Unfortunately, due to our strange schedule these past few years having repeatedly placed the venue for our game in College Station, I haven't yet had the pleasure of visiting your town. I plan to escape from my duties when possible and check out the campus, which I've been told is beautiful. I was also wondering where I ought to head at night for some carousing? Being that it's a college town in the summer, I know better than to expect much to be going on, but I was hoping one of y'all could point a fella in the right direction. and thanks in advance.

My A&M friends who have visited in the past have always raved about Harpo's

It will be pretty quiet, unfortunately. But the best bars in my opinion are:
1. Harpo's

2. Shiloh
3. Bengal's
4. Campus (used to be called Big 12)
5. Willie's
6. The Penguin
7. Quinton's
8. FieldHouse
9. McNally's
10. Heidelberg

Make sure to stop in Tropical Liqueurs - get a half Silver Bullet/half Tiger Paw to cool off.
There is also a decent & popular brewpub called Flat Branch downtown.
If you are looking for nicer places to go, I'd reccomend Murry's (not downtown), CiCi's City Broiler (not downtown), Sycamore, or Bleu (wine bar).

Nice! Thanks guys!

I Googled Harpos and the first picture you see is a gaggle of attractive coeds and an ad for $1 double wells!

Also a BIG fan of brewpubs.

On Thursdays they have quarter draws - unfortunately it's Miller Lite/Coors Lite draws.

The building you can kinda make out amidst the gold swarm there is Harpo's. It's generally like that either after a big win or when word gets out that I am coming back to town.

Granted in the latter scenario most of them are holding pitchforks and torches.

That's right after the OU game in 2010, people were climbing the side of the building to get inside.
