If I know in advance that a cop is waiting at the end of the street ready to arrest me for ANY infraction, then I damn sure won't be smokin weed/carrying a gun/drinking and driving.
I am not sure how hard this is to understand for some players.
I know why it's called ADHD and had they been given more of these as a child and less pills maybe just maybe...

Agree. Richt's problem is his discipline always comes after an incident. What is obviously missing is daily preventive discipline that heads off problems before they can develop.

He has had kids commit the same acts over and over again. it's a catch 22 for him, look bad to the public by showing no mercy or look bad to the public by losing games because a talented player is not in the game. People/fans have a short memory when it comes to either situation and dont correlate the two together
^This
When four different SEC programs have brought home the crystal in the last decade and 3 of those programs have done it more than once, that just puts more pressure on Richt.
Ultimately he's been forced to go somewhat lightly with discipline because he has to get his players on the field one way or the other due to the pressure place on him to WIN ball games.

So I know kids can be stupid, but I don't get why a player with so much potential makes such dumb decisions. This is a real shame.

Supposedly, the car smelled like weed so the officers asked consent to do a search. Crowell gave consent (mistake).
Stupid as hell if Crow allowed the search knowing a freakin gun was under the seat.

No self control and the need for instant gratifacation. Dyer is another example.
These kids could be NFL stars and garner a large income and retire early. A lot of these guys dont even make out of their 20's before they are done in the NFL. Can't they hold off for a few years, then they can smoke all the pot and drink as much as they want, while playing madden in their nice house

Really? UGA and CMR kick out players for things that would be swept under the rug at alot of other schools. How many times does a kid have to fail a drug test at Bama before anyone even knows about it. UGA has always had some of the most strict policies in the SEC. Right now at any other school besides UK, Tree, Rambo and Smith would not even be suspended. Show me one time where CMR has went light ly on players so they can play. If not for CMR, Mett wouldn't be the starting qb at LSU and that was the first time Mett had ever been in trouble.

Exactly. Just a little self-discipline, dammit, and then you've got millions of dollars waiting for you!

I think the only thing that had saved Jarvis Jones from a similar fate is Todd Grantham IMO.

Yea but if you do that then you have to be prepared to bench the ones who test positive. I don't think they could even beat Buffalo with the 15 or 20 players who would be clean.

Legge over at Scout is still saying they were... Apparently verbatim from the police report...
quote:
The police report written by arresting officer Kathryn Thornton noted that she had been working a road block on East Campus Road and Green Street near the Ramsey Center on campus.
The report claims that Crowell had four other teammates in the car with him: True freshman Blake Tibbs, Josh Harvey-Clemons, Sheldon Dawson and sophomore Quintavious Harrow.
After approaching the road block the officer reported that Crowell didn't have his seatbelt on, and that Thornton said she smelled marijuana from the car.
Crowell said he'd been at the club "Aftermath" and that was likely where the smell was coming from. Thornton asked if marijuana had been smoked in the car... Crowell said no, but that the smell was likely from the club.
Crowell then allowed to a search of his person.
"I didn't locate any contraband on his person," she said in the report.
Other officers asked why Crowell was so nervous. Officers searched Harrow, Clemons, Dawson and Tibbs, but none had contraband on them.
Thornton check under the driver's seat, and located a Luger 9mm and which time she placed Crowell, who had claimed the car as his, under arrest.
Crowell said other people drive his car and that he does not have a handgun permit. The officer also indicated in her report that Crowell does not have a criminal history.
