I planned my marriage and my divorce to be in June as to not interfere with AU football.

I planned our wedding around football season. Had it the weekend after SEC championship game. Used the LSU/OleMiss game tailgate party as one of our engagement parties.

That was a good idea. Two birds, one stone

*** SPOILER ALERT ***
In Ridley Scott's "Prometheus", aliens not only created humans, they created the game of football.

We got married in the fall (October) because I finished my Master's in August and we didn't want to wait.
BUT-
We had to make it work around 3 football schedules. My husband and I went to Alabama, he grew up in Auburn, and I grew up in Tallahassee.
We had to find a weekend where Alabama, Auburn, and FSU were either not playing or had shitty away games. We got lucky.
My children will not get married in the fall.
I have spent more than one time as a bridesmaid with a freaking walkman and headphones hidden.
And, yes, I said walkman. I'm 40 - we didn't have iPhones and ESPN3 and streaming shite when all my friend were getting married 16-18 years ago, you young whippersnappers.
Nowadays if someone is inconsiderate enough to plan a wedding during a big game, we just send an expensive gift and don't attend the wedding. The bride and groom don't even notice if old people they had to invite for their parents are there.

Moral of the story: Don't plan a wedding during football season in the South. It's just not polite.
This is the part that goes over the head of a lot of people. It's not polite to have a wedding in the Fall. It's just dumb to schedule an event, that you expect family and friends to attend on a Football Saturday.
Brides want to be the center of attention on their big day. Why share your big day with a football game that everyone is interested in? I've been to receptions where all the males and some females are in another room, crowded around a TV, completely ignoring everything else.

I definitely plan around the season. Which is horrible because my best friend who I do most things with is an Alabama fan so we have to plan around two teams. I don't think I take it too far though, if I HAVE to go somewhere I try to make plans to be around a tv or just dvr the game and try to stay away from anyone who could tell me what happened.

My GF just had some of her best friends move to Baton Rouge. Staying in an apartment near campus before buying/building their house.
Just so happens that a friend of ours is getting married on the same day as the Bama LSU game.
We are not sure what we are going to do. GF has never been to an LSU game and we have a free place to stay within walking distance to Tiger Stadium.
