You're right, though...I would expect the Big12 to fire the first shot...Big10 probably comes in second with some ACC grabs, and then the SEC sits back and picks up the final few pieces, knowing full well the pieces it wants aren't necessarily coveted by the Big12/Big10....basically giving the SEC what it wants without having to do any of the dirty work (it also wouldn't surprise me to learn that the Big12/SEC work "hand-in-hand" throughout this process).
DING DING DING!
Exactly as I see it. The ACC gets the teams it wants (among them UVA and UNC) giving VT and NCST the "political cover" needed to move to the SEC.

Would the B10 want VT due to academics??... just asking, I have no idea how VT ranks academically...

This shite is going to kill college football. Goodbye traditional rivalries. Goodbye having a chance to go to an away game at a particular school more than once or twice in your fricking lifetime. Not because you can't afford to go, but because your team plays there once every 18 years.
How dramatic. If this all unfolds, 16-team conferences will go to four pods of four instead of divisions of eight, enabling teams to play everyone else in the conference every 2-3 years while maintaining the most important annual rivalries. There is so much potential here, not just in terms of money, but in finally have a legit college football post-season without altogether forfeiting what makes college football so great: the necessity to win every Saturday.

VT is a shithole of a school.

No. They would rather have UVA since it is one of those AAU members. Same with UNC, Duke (which may or may not get in) and MD.
The Big 12 may want VT as a partner for WVU. Though in that case I'd rather they take Pitt so the Backyard Brawl can be renewed.

I know all the GT fans think the B10 would want them if the ACC implodes..

I'm in favor of the plan that gets us back to 12.

I'll admit when I opened the link and saw David Climber wrote it I immediately closed it. He's an idiot and its a mystery to how he has a job still.

Since they're also AAU it's a possibility, but I'm hearing they'll go Big 12.

NC State isn't going anywhere without UNC. The only one of the North Carolina schools that would leave is in CUSA not the ACC, as the ACC caters to the triangle.

Agreed if UNC is stuck in the ACC. But like with UVA and VT, if UNC gets a home in the B1G then NCST could leave.

Not too sure this is the case Tech is the people's school with a large enrollment, UVA a small brainiac school

But the "small brainiac school" has the law school. Which produces the politicians.
When the old Southwest Conference dissolved, no way Baylor should have gone to the Big 12. But its Law School graduated a large chunk of the Legislature. End of story.

VA Tech is ranked around 75th academically, the B1G allowed 100th ranked Nebraska in.
ETA: The B1G ranking average with Nebraska included is 50.3

yay mike slive for ruining college football

Baylor had the Baptist and money behind them. The one that was a head scratcher was Tech over TCU, especially since it wasn't an all public school league.
ETA: Baylor was a good overall program when the Big XII started. They have had the craziest story ever in college sports and Taeff got lazy stopped recruiting and it killed them, just when OU K State etc started their reorganization.

Look, people, just because David Climer woke up one morning and decided to write an article about expansion to 16 teams doesn't make it so. Doesn't mean we're one step closer. Climer doesn't know any more about this than we do. He's just regurgitating what's been in the media already.

This sucks
Who would've thought Arkansas would be playing NC State as often as we play Tennessee

Both Tech and Baylor have law schools and large representation in the Texas Legislature. Also the Lt Gov at the time (Bob Bullock) went to both Tech and Baylor.
