While I agree Mallett never had a chance to start for the Patriots, he did have a chance to win the #2 QB spot last season and was relegated to the practice squad as the #3 QB because he could not beat out Brian Hoyer
Mallet was never on the practice squad, he dressed as the third QB meaning he could not play unless Hoyer and Brady went down.
Any kid on the practice squad is fair game other teams can snag them provided they given an active roster

Appreciate it. I'm sure I'll see you around, shirt.

Bray just has more upside than Wilson. Taller, which NFL teams definitely value, stronger arm, and younger.
Upside is not a word you wanna hear about if you're talking about a top 6 pick.
Re: Taller, I could see your point if Wilson was 6-1 or something, but he is a little over 6-3, well tall enough that it wouldn't matter.
Stronger arm, eh that's questionable. Wilson doesn't have a Mallett arm but he can fling the ball down the field easily.

Bray is a true Junior. 2 years removed from highschool.
Wilson is a red shirt senior. 4 years removed from highschool.
If you think that matters
My thought: Bray has shown nothing to prove he is a 1st round pick, much less a top 10 pick. He is a headcase on the field and shits the bed against top competition... hmm sounds like a QB who went in the 3rd round last year.

Bray has played 2 and a half games against quality opponents (Florida, UGA, and a half against USCe) in his 2 years. Those weren't his best games but the rest of the offense didn't exactly help him. I'm throwing out the Vandy and UK games from last year due to injury. If he can stay healthy, he's gonna to have a breakout year.....Now, taking off the orange tinted glases.

This guy (NBamaAlum)=PHAG! Bray is a legitimate talent. Anybody can see that. You have to be blind or an Alabama fan to deny the fact that the kid can ball.

Bray has thrown for 3800 yards and 35 TDs in 12 starts, he will go 4K and 40 TD with 14 this year.

It's amazing how many people expect him to have a bunch of wins over quality teams by this point. I must have missed the list of freshman/sophomore quarterbacks on terrible teams with bad coaches who are racking up wins against quality opponents.
Talk about quality wins as much as you want. The fact is if Tennessee had AJ McCarron, the Vols probably wouldn't have made a bowl game in 2010 and very possibly would have finished 4-8 in 2011.

The incestuous backslapping between Barn and Vol fans in this thread is nauseating. That why when Auburn plays Tennessee, I usually don't pull for either team but instead pray that God will open up a crack in the ground Old Testament style and swallow the stadium whole.
The bottom line is that Bray has potential. It is yet unrealized and will never be so until he toughens up physically and learns to do something besides slinging it down the field on fly routes. Do NFL teams draft on potential? Sure they do, and that means Bray might go pretty high. But c'mon... he's a third round gamble right now at his current level of development. Maybe he will move up next year with better play and if he can stay injury free.

I agree with you. I think he will put up the numbers this year.

All you need to know about how Alabama fans evaluate QBs... McElroy is a better prepared to be a QB in the NFL than Cam. Cam MAY make it in the pros as a TE...
