The only reason JLS was there was because it was his alma mater and it is a beautiful area to retire in.

It does. But from a business perspective, Weber State is quite a few notches below Arkansas in everything. Like the saying goes, shite travels down the ladder.
And I'm sure Long was hesitant to hire a coach that was about to go into spring practice. But Im also sure that he looked at all his options and that this was his best option by far, even if it meant leaving an FCS school without a coach.
