Ask Tony Mitchell what the hardest part about defense is.

Ask Nick Jacobs what the hardest part is. Its not like we're talking about Renardo Sidney. effort and intensity will only get you so far.

Creighton is too good for Bama. I guess its also that MVC loyalty. McDermott can score and the Center can score. I dont see how Bama can match them. I also think that MVC gets 2 into sweet 16.

This is what we were told by a Missouri fan here going into our game against Wichita State and we handled them quite easily. Of course, we were playing our best ball of the year at that point when Tony Mitchell was actually doing a lot and adding positive energy.

Creighton is a tough draw in an 8/9 seed game as I thought they deserved a 6 or 7 seed. I do think Alabama has a great shot of winning the game though if we play a 4 guard line up and don't try to double the post. We have to get contributions from our 7 footers though. We can't give up drives and dishes out for 3 and we have to be free to fire 3s on the offensive end playing inside out with Green. We've shown that we can shoot the 3 at a respectable clip if we are given the green light to shoot. We shoot such a low percentage imho because we shoot so few 3s that we never get in any kind of rhythm whatsoever.

It will be interesting to see whether Grant and the Tide speed up their pace or Creighton gets slowed down. Frankly I think it might be to Bama's benefit to try to get some transition buckets as we have struggled in the halfcourt sets. Bama can't outscore the Jayhawks and will have to hold them below their 80 points per game and 50% from the floor average if they hope to win.

I expect JaMychal will have to come up huge and we need to get some contribution from everyone, including Bama's bench.

doubt it. they didn't play much at all in the SECT. they can get some rebounds and provide a low post presence on D, but we're not gonna get anything from them on offense.

The one big I wouldnt mind seeing is Engstrom. He has no offense but he runs the floor and plays hard as hell

Guys should have open shots all night...like I said their D is horrible, if J.Green wants to (and he needs to play this way) he might end up with 24 or more points, we will be much more physical, I expect to see more of Hankerson and Steele to play D on shooters and attack passing lanes, would like to see Gueye just because they haven't seen a guy that big at all. Like I said Bama has a little longer to prepare and I agree that it could be a big opportunity for Lacey to have a huge tourney also the guys should be motivated by total lack of respect every person pencils Creighton in the 2nd rd, including their own coach, and for an offensive up tempo team Bama press will eat them alive

This is the biggest problem with our offense this whole year. Not just Engstrom, but we have no inside offense. What is our points in the paint scoring? It can't be good. One big reason we struggle from the 2 point line is that we can't score inside, so the defense doesn't pack in tight.
Green isn't a true center, so it's tough on him down low.

If Gueye wasn't hurt offseason he would be a starter at C and be a lot more effective in the offense, as it happened though it wasn't meant to be, Engstrom is a defensive presence just so raw and seemingly unaware on offense

we have Nick Jacobs and Jamychal Green. I wouldnt say that is "no inside offense." Jacobs whole entire game is inside scoring. Jamychal Green is a beast down low when he doesnt have 3-4 guys on him.

I'm hopeful Jacobs and Green can have big games. Jacobs can be pretty damn good offensively at times.

hell yeah. he's got a great shooting touch in the paint. he's got no face up game, but he knows what he's doing with his back to the basket.

and make no mistake about it, Jamychal Green is the best player on this team. we've got to get the ball in his hands and find a way to make plays out of the double team.

Also, because we don't look to shoot 3's until all else has failed and there's 2 seconds on the shot clock. Then they just jack up a contested prayer. In my opinion, we have some good shooters. I just think the, "we can get that shot anytime, try to get it down low first" attitude has crippled their outside shooting.

It seems to me like he prefers to play facing the hoop. He doesn't exactly move people out of his way under the goal.

Love the little jump hook though when it's going down. Reminds me of Buck Johnson who perfected it.

Wow 8 page thread (so far) for an Alabama hoops game. I think Tide fans are excited.

It sucks that we play on Friday at 12:40, because i'll have to take off work again. It's all part of the process though.

I feel like this game will go into OT for some reason. JG has to stay out of foul trouble.

I think Lacey will step up in a big way for us too.

ETA: I'll say Bama wins by a score of 68-64, or something similair.

The biggest thing to me is JG staying out of foul trouble and TR keeping his composure and not letting the ref's whistle impact his emotions too much.
