SunHog, any ten year period can be referred to as a decade. 1945 to 1955 is a decade that was spans from the 40s to the 50s.

It's pretty obvious I know that.

1945-1955 is used because of significant events, WW2 ending and GI Bill for example.

When talking about sports decades we use 20'-29' when talking about the 1920's football teams.

What decade did the Arkansas team play in from 02'-11' considering what's over a span of 2 decades associated with the dictionary. That team can't be in the 00's and 10's decades so what the hell is that decade called?
