Supposedly some good news about Isaac is out there. Hopefully we can bring him in.

I agree completely with what you say about QB Manziel. I watched him last year in practice and the spring game and he is the pick of the litter. I expect him to start and Showers to back up so Matt can redshirt. Then next spring Matt and Manziel to battle for starter and backup barring any injuries? Again not a single one has significant game experience going into the season.
The rest of the roster you listed gave us a finish way out of the top 25 and lost to almost all the ranked teams.
First comes the talent problem, then the S&C, them the coaching.
We have
Our four star players signed in the previous five years at A&M dropped to the lowest level in two decades at 28 last year compared to 'Bamas 84, Florida's 81, tu's 81 and LSU's 78, etc?
Sumlin has inherited absolutely the worst talented squad in 20 years.
The recruiting has been gross. This is due to our BOR and Adnimistration only paying bottom tier wages again(texastribune.org) to hire the 7 position coaches. When you pay bottom tier, half what tu pays its coaches we get mostly novice recruiters.
Rivals shows that Brian Polian had signed 3 five star and 8 four star ranked players, Terry Price only 4, David Beaty 1 four star and the other 4 have signed zero in the past five years.
They already have lost 15 head to heads for good players and have 3 decommits and its only April.
When 'Bama, Florida and LSU have 3 times the speed, size and athleticism as us, we have a major major talent problem.
WE'll see if Sumlin fills the 11 defensive positions over the exciting next 2 weeks with four star ranked players and finish by mid summer as he said on radio today?
Our BOR and Administration must quit screwing us and pay salaries to our coaches competitive with tu when these coaches are replaced in a couple of years because they can't recruit four star talent.

I'll prove your statement wrong. Let's compare the 2012 roster to the 2008 roster:
2012 roster:
5 star players - 3
4 star players - 16
3 star players - 51
2 star players - 5
2008 roster:
5 star players - 0
4 star players - 16
3 star players - 31
2 star players - 9
WALK-ONS - 20
Go through the classes of 2004-2007 and count the sheer number of 4-star players who went to complete shite under Franchione before Sherman even set foot on campus.

Great Post CGSC Lobotomy.
Both the 2008 and 2012 A&M rosters just show the complete lack of talent we have when compared to good teams like 'Bama who signed 84 four and five star ranked players, Florida with 81 and LSU with 78 signed over 5 years.
our coaches have a big immediate job to close the gap between the 16-19 you show on our roster and the 78-84 4*/5* players on our competitors, that's 60 top ranked players difference for defense, to cover injuries and off field problems and special teams.
Thats exactly why our scoring defense and special teams are ranked ncaa #76 and worse.
Couple of quick modifications on the 2012 roster, 5*Brandon williams is not eligible to play in 2012 unless he is granted a waiver from the ncaa, 5*C-Mike may not play due to his leg and 4* DT Mathis may not play due to his leg. Only time will tell?
Probably more that someone else can expand on.
This is a really great site with all the SEC teams here together in one place.
I've told several Ags and others about it and they are all going to join.
They had simply quit other sites because of all the bias and complete lack of honesty in posting!

Not even close.
1. Mathis broke his foot, not his leg.
2. Michael tore his ACL and played just fine in 2011 after breaking his leg in 2010.
3. Both are participating in spring drills

TexasDJRock, Isaac would be the number one center piece to building a defense.
As a commitment to stanford presently, I assume he is commimg to our spring game?
Do you have any estimate on our chances?
Thanks for the information.

Both are being held back by their coaches this spring.
I'll see if they both participate in the spring drill tomorrow?
It would not necessarily be a bad sign if they don't participate but it would be a very good sign if they do participate.
Give them a chance to really get in football shape by the spring game if they are able to start fully participating.
Both are motvated by the chance to get an nfl contract.
Which foot did Mathis break and which ACL did C mike tear?
Thanks

I have no idea.
I know that Mathis broke his foot during the first half of the Oklahoma State game and didn't return. He ended up with a medical redshirt.
Michael tore his ACL (I think opposite the leg he broke against Tech the previous year) in the 3rd quarter of the Oklahoma game. That was the same game that Ryan Broyles tore HIS ACL.

Tomorrow is a scrimmage. Have you watched any of the videos on Aggie Athletics? Mathis seems to be fully involved in the drills and Michael is only slightly held back.

This is correct. And from what I've heard Mathis has looked fantastic in our practices.

Also correct. Who knows what C Mike will be running like next year, it's a wild card. But regardless Baylor58, you will never sign a RB or DT of their caliber so you should probably refrain from posting about either of them.
Posted on 4/14/12 at 10:05 am to ShaneTheLegLechler
Shane that would be great news about Mathis if he can be practicing at full speed and be one piece of the rotating defense Snyder wants to run to keep everybody fresh.
I want us to start building a defense right now by recruiting the talent first.
God knows the roster CGS Lobotomy posted shows we don't have the talent now so lets add it to this recruiting class:
DE 4*______
DT 4*Golden
DT 4*Huggins
DE 4*______
OLB 4*______
MLB 4*______
OLB 4*______
CB 4*______
CB 4*______
S 4*______
S 4*______
Sumlin said yeserday we are going to have an exciting two weeks recruiting and be finished by mid summer so Sumlin just fill in the blanks above to start building a defense we can all be proud of and we will be very happy!
Boy I would love to get 5*Isaac at MLB, that is the type of breakthru recruiting we must have just to start beating the ranked teams every year.
Well should be leaving for the campus any minute, one of the fellows grandsons is on the team and he's very excited!

Anyone who is a 3-star rated 5.7 is basically a 4-star. Example: Morris Claiborne
DB: Victor Davis (2013)
DB: #7 Otis Jacobs (2012 - JUCO)
DE: Polo Manikainu (2012) - ESPN Top 150
DE: Michael Richardson (2012)
DE: #41 Brandon Alexander (2011)
LB: #36 Donnie Baggs (2011)
DT: #98 Shayvion Hatten (2011)
LB: #40 Shaun Ward (2011)
DB: #4 Toney Hurd (2010) - ESPN Top 150
DE: #94 Damontre Moore (2010)
LB: #23 Domonique Patterson (2010)
DT: #73 Rhontae Scales (2009)
DB: #21 Steven Terrell (2009)

Not meant as a flame but a serious question.
If you guys are going to be done in the summer then does that mean Sumlin isn't going to wait out Prevot?
Also does he also mean that he's going to just bank in the LA kids that likely commit without considering what will happen if LSU offers in the fall? We all know how that works out in the end.
Both are serious questions while also trying to get across that Sumlin making blanket statements like that are not smart. Recruiting changes too much for any coach to feel comfortable about what's going to happen. It's April. A lot can change by June/July/August. Unless he plans on taking borderline kids that don't have other good options then his class will not be done by end of summer.

Showers was by far the best QB in the open scrimmage today.
Posted on 4/14/12 at 11:14 pm to CGSC Lobotomy
CGSC Lobotomy please let me explain what I mean by a 4* defense.
I'm talking mostly 5.9's 6.0's an occasional 6.1 5* and some 5.8's.
I can best explain if you have a spare 20 minutes sometime for this exercise.
Take an 8 1/2 by 11 notebook paper and make columns across the top for ratings 5.5, 5.6. 5.7, 5.8, 5.9, 6.0 amd 6.1.
Now let's quickly run a distribution of recruits ratings for 'bama and lsu, two recent mnc contenders.
Go to rivals for each 'Bama and LSU and scip the first page because it does not break out the ratings but go to 2012, '11, '10, '09 and '08 commit pages, quickly scrol down each page recording the 5.5 to 6.1 rating of each recruit.
When you are finished add up each column and we have a distribution of recruits for two mnc contenders.
This is the exact distribution I want for A&M recruiting for the next 5 years because I want us to contend for the mnc every year (top 5); enough of this losing to most ranked teams every year like the last 20 years and this upcomming season.
You'll find lots of 5.9's 6.0's, some 6.1's amd some 5.8's and few 5.7's.
I did this for 10 mnc teams earlier, and would be very interested in your results (totals by rating) if ypu should choose to do it?
Finally let me just quickly point out that all those 5.7's you listed are part of a terrible #76 A&M ncaa ranked scoring defense and even worse ranked special teams which we both don't want.
Regards,
miller58

Do you use a different source or is this a typo?
Again appreciaste your work in posting this informatiom.

Rivals ratings only go back to 2002, so you can't possibly do a full class analysis for any team before the 2005 Longhorns.
