Why does Mullens and staff discourage kids to not take other visits so much

Myth. The staff tells kids that if they are visiting other schools, then the staff is also still looking for other recruits at that same position.

Saban uses this same model.

Obvious model is obvious I suppose.

Nah, we'll probably end up higher on both.(Even though I don't look at Rival) We're 12th on Scout right now.

I really can't imagine other schools not doing this. You don't think our staff was trying to convince Gross and Ward from visiting other schools after they committed? I just think this is something rivals fans say as the only reason why they aren't visiting. Kind of like saying he committed because of "family pressure"

What's really ironic is that they were piling on Nutt for the same nonsense. Recruiting titles!11!rattle

It will only be ironic if this year Mullen claims better recruiting based on the recruiting services rankings. It would be hypocritical of him to do so at this point based on his past statements. No denying that.

I do think Merlins does this more than most but I'll gladly give up claiming this if I don't have to hear the words "family pressure" out of MSU fans ever again.

It's not just him, it's some MSU fans on here as well. But hey at least you're honest.

That is still Mullen and staff "discouraging kids to not take other visits." Just because they don't explicitly say "don't take other visits" doesn't mean they're not discouraging other visits.

Seriously, answer the question. Why does Mullen discourage people from taking other visits?

True. It is a form of discouragement, but it's not as egregious as Reb fans are leading on, i.e. "Take a visit to TSUN and your offered is pulled".

Why wouldn't he if he can set that frame? From what I hear, he doesn't consider recruits who visit other schools as committed, like the sites have listed. If QB "commit" is visiting other schools, they are still actively recruiting other QBs for that signing spot. How is that not the proper thing to do? Is he wrong for telling them this? Sounds like he is just being upfront to me.

Actually, this year Yancy has been striking out quite a bit. Paul Jones, who has a really strong relationship with our recruits, has indirectly called Yancy out a few times this year for blatant BS.

Yancy caused a lot of trouble with Quay, completely lied about a number of our recruits (Redmond, Coman, B. Brown, Jiles, Autry, and several others), and now he is stirring up crap up with AJ Jefferson. I can't wait to hear the crap he says after Richie visits up there this weekend. Fact is, Yancy isn't what he used to be and folks are now calling him out on it.

This is straight from Yancy, so that makes it unmistakably true.

Once again.......show us.

We hear every year about how wrong Yancy always is from MSU fans.....yet they never actually post any evidence.

A perfect example of something made up from state fans.

Here is what happened. Coman and brown both were scheduled to visit OM. Gene is saying both are commits and won't visit OM. OM fans ask Yancy if this is true and Yancy respond with "neither recruit has informed OM that they won't visit, so until they do I expect them to visit". Then as soon as this happens Yancy tells rebel nation they won't visit. Exactly what is wrong with that?

As far as Jiles and Redmond goes yancy did say OM was still in play for these recruits because neither stopped talking to OM's coaches. That's all he said. As soon as both told OM coaches that they were set on state and were done with recruiting, Yancy told rebel nation this exact thing.

State fans twist everything he says into lies.

I love the whole "stirring up crap with AJ" part.

The only thing he's said is that AJ and his family are still scheduled to visit but MSU is trying to get them to cancel.

How is that stirring up crap? Hell....how is that even wrong at all?

What did he say? I have not seen it on the Scout website at least...I haven't seen anything that he's posted that is capable of "stirring crap."

this

quote:

**Sources tell me the Jefferson family is still giving serious consideration to visit OM this weekend. LINK The plan all along was to take all of his visits and make a decision after his last visit to Ole Miss but A.J. pulled the trigger early during his MSU visit. MSU is putting extreme pressure on the family to not visit but that is where we are as of right now.

and that doesn't even have anything to do with "predictions". He's just relaying the information that he's told.

Can't link the stuff Yancy said about Quay because he had to take it down.

He said Coman, B. Brown, Redmond, Jiles, etc. were all visiting or interested in OM as recent as a week ago. None of that was true. This guys have told everyone that would listen that it's not true. Right now, the stuff with Jefferson seems innocent, but that kind of crap is always how it starts. Once again, AJ completely refuted that rumor already this morning.

You guys are so quick to defend Yancy. Geez, it is ok to admit he is having a bad year.
