The fact that this is being used as a jumping off point to attack an entire fanbase shows that the people doing the attacking aren't really all that concerned about the act itself.

Oh I agree completely. That's why I was extremely careful not to make any generalizations about who was doing it. I even took care not to mention team affiliations.
