Question about Bama vs LSU Nov 5th...

Was the ultra conservative play calling we saw from Bama on Nov 5th really all that different from their normal offense, or was this just who Bama really is? Basically, try and get TR the ball and hope he makes something happen individually.
I haven't watched every Bama game this, year, but the few I have watched looked a lot like same thing. The big difference is that the opposing defenses couldn't bring him down at the line.

A very misguided confidence considering Alabama's FG percentage this year beyond 40 yards.

How many pts did LSU score after missed FGs?
Saban knows his defense can stop LSU, even with good field position. No reason not to take a shot at the three pts.

Sounds like another low scoring game since Bama can't get to the red zone and can't consistently make long FGs.

It's more likely he knew he wouldn't get a bunch of chances at TDs/points (and he didn't) so he had to try and take advantage. If he knew LSU's offense couldn't/wouldn't score then giving them better field position was a terrible decision since the likelihood of scoring on a fluke play would have increased.
I don't think Alabama played all that conservatively to be honest, the final drive in regulation notwithstanding.

I didn't say they scored 9 after missed field goals. I was just pointing out that Bama only managed 6 points the entire game, even AFTER 2 int's by Lee.

I would point out that the Jordan won 6 championships with the Bulls, but nobody asked about that.

I hear this a lot from select LSU fans (usually only those with a low football IQ b/c real LSU fans with high football IQs realize this game will be close regardless of who wins). What do you base this "beat that arse handily" prediction on?

Saban's offense is a run/pass balanced offense. Go back and check the stats. We get as many yards from passing as we do rushing. Saban will throw in a few trick plays as needed. Bama has a goal to get a certain number of explosive plays.
But I got to say LSU was much more conservative than we were. Not to rag because I think it was the perfect offense for Nov 5. You may need to open it up a little more this time.

I understand this to a point but if you gain 30 yards in field position by punting, you put yourself 30 yards closer to the endzone next time you're on offense.
