Quite simple really. Slive, being the financial genius that he is, calculated the enormous payoff for an all SEC title game. From there he set his plan in motion. Fearing LSU would not be able to withstand a loss and still climb back in the mix, he instructed the refs to let LSU win the game while keeping it close. Bonus money to the refs if they get it into overtime. Diabolical

This seems to be the ONE argument those against a rematch cling to for dear life. It's such a ridiculous argument too.
You opened your paragraph with some epic stupidity, and continued from there. LSU beat Bama, and you know damn well if Bama beats LSU In the championship it will settle nothing in the minds of many people. The season "series" is 1-0 right now.
If you can't see that, you are in WAY over your head.

I love Bama fans. The only fan base I have ever seen that gets more confident after a loss.
The real question is why can't you acknowledge that you weren't the better team that day. The excuses and the claims of winning everything but the scoreboard. It is really quite ridiculous.

The penalties probably more than the missed field goals cost Bama the game

I dont think Alabama should say they have the best body of work...
their "body of work" consists of having only beaten 3 FBS teams with a winning record, one of which is 6-5. So there "body of work" is actually not as good as some comparable 1 loss teams.
There best argument is that they lost to the #1 team in the country by 3. At home. Which isn't paper thin at all...

So people wont weight a championship game more. Losing the final game is all people remember. The Patriots pored that. People still thought they were the best team but called they chokers.

I missed the announcement
I should have been more clear and stated it this way, "And OSU lost allowing Bama to have a 90% chance of getting into the big game".
If Bama is, as so many of the experts on the Rant tell me, going to be in for a letdown when the BCS ratings come out on 12/4, then when is someone going to tell Vegas? The people who do this for a LIVING are saying it is a 90% chance of a rematch. On top of that, Vegas currently has Bama with the best odds to win it all. How are they going to win it all when, according to the Rant, they won't even be in the game?
Vegas Still Thinks Bama is in the BCSNCG Despite the opinions of experts on the Rant
BCS National Championship - Odds to Win
Bama: -110
LSU: +125
Arky: +600
OSU: +700
Everyone else is at +3000 or higher
(you'll note, they give Arkansas a better chance to get there and win than they do the team that the Rant has assured me will pass us in the ratings on 12/4)

I get that. And I don't disagree. LSU fans are bitcing about the possibility of playing Bama again, b/c Bama poses a bigger threat to OSU, and we don't feel we have anything left to prove given our schedule this year. We'll take the easiest route to the crystal.
I understand why LSU fans would be frustrated at having to beat a team a 2nd time to win it all. It's more a matter of bad luck than some great BCS injustice though. Okie State (who could still sneak in to the title game), Oklahoma, Oregon, and Stanford screwed it up for the anti-rematch people though. If any of them don't sh## the bed, then Alabama doesn't get a rematch.

Bama fans are bitching b/c they had the "best" loss, and some still think they actually won on Nov. 5
The Bama fans making that argument are idiots

If the roles were reversed, both teams would still be bitching for the same reasons. It doesn't change the fact that it doesn't matter - ultimately voters will decide who they want to see play in Nola.
This is true and also what scares me as an Alabama fan.

Do you feel that OSU and UM should've had a rematch in 06? Just curious
OSU won the conference... So no...
Unless they were willing to play a best 2 out of 3. Wouldn't be fair to OSU to beat UM, win the conference and play UM again with 2nd game winner takes NC

Agree, I don't really get into the "body of work" arguments in football. I watch the games and judge them by what I see, not by who they are playing.

I will pose the question again to LSU fans because no one has given an objective answer to it yet. It's a simple question to. Do LSU fans think they would NOT be #2 in the BCS right now if they had lost in overtime on November 5th? Your honest objective answer to that question will reveal your true feelings about where Alabama currently stands in the BCS standings.

By using how close LSU got to make those FGs how many times did Bama get "close"?
I don't know why don't you look at the drives of the game.
LSU didn't get close enough to try 4 50 yard field goals.

I am going to say that the LSU defense not allowing Bama near the end zone cost Bama the game.

If the game were played this weekend, you'd be right. But if OSU jumps you, then they'll be the #2 team in the country, and by BCS rules, they play the #1 team. /the end
Its the height of irony that the very year the Big12(?) ends their championship game Okie St needs that 12th win so desparately. 12-1 would trump Bama's 11-1 all day, but I don't think there are any teams out there at this point who can pick up a 12th win, (other than LSU, obviously). Could be overlooking someone though.
At this point, I think its most likely Bama gets the rematch. But remember LSU's edge in team speed that was so evident in Bryant-Denny? Its gonna be a lot more pronounced on that Superdome turf.
Get ready to run out of gas in the 4th . . .again.

I'm not making excuses. Dropping a TD pass is making excuses.
If you corndogs had any reading comprehension you would see in my statement I said I'd gladly get beaten twice in one year to be proven LSU is the better team. So quit wishing you can beat up on a weak arse OSU team and let's strap it up.

I can. LSU won. They were the better team, as you put it, 'that day'. If Bama doesn't make it to the BCSNCG then I'll be pulling like hell for LSU to win it all. If we do make it, then I'll be hoping that Bama is the better team on 'that day'.

This is college football in which there is no playoff. Anytime you have a situation where two teams finish with the same records, particularly against each other, there will be dispute. It's a fairly simple concept but I still don't expect folks from Bama to quite understand it.
