It's interesting, but not surprising, that you don't have Dennis Johnson in your top 5 especially since he is producing 28.8% more yards per carry than your number 2 rated player. 28.8% more! That's impressive.
DJ has 606 total yards for a 6.7 average with a long of 71 and 3 TDs. DJ also has 20 catches for 258 yards (a 12.9 average) with a long of 31 and 2 TDs.
If DJ had the same number of carries as Dyer has and had the same average he would be at 1,534 yards. Also, RBs should be judged on their total contribution to their team, i.e. receiving yards as well and not just rushing yards.

I think Ware, while a damn violent and hard runner, is content to go down after 4 yards.
He looked much better at the beginning of the year, but this seems to be a valid assessment of his play over the last few weeks.

quote:I've repeated this over and over again, these ranking are not based on hypotheticals, but actual production. As you noticed, DJ did receive some votes. However, his over all body of work isn't enough to crack the top 5. A big game against LSU might do the trick.

quote:Who said receiving yards weren't factored in. They have been all year in these rankings and I have mentioned it repeatedly. In fact, even a few games after his injury, that was what was keeping Lattimore even with or ahead of Dyer.

quote:Anyone with a brain knows that ypc can be a good stat to use, but is not comparing apples to apples when one runner has much fewer carries. Eddie Lacy has a crazy high ypc as well, but it is largely a product of only carrying the ball a few times per game.

In short, DJ doesn't deserve to be on the list yet. He has looked pretty good in his last 5 games though.

Obviously LSU is the shite and so it's kinda pointless to pick on them or a part of their team. But they were on Ware's dick so hard for a while. Half of them would argue to the death that he was down right better than any other RB in the SEC. They blind?

Richardson is hands down the best in the conference, if not the country. Lattimore is next.
Also, I will take 5 guys, any combination of whom is good for at least 150 yards a game. Like stated earlier, LSU does things differently.

I'll take a backfield full of midgets if they get the W. LSU's RBs are really good but Trent and Lacy are as good as it gets and can get the job done against anybody, most of the time

Way too much logic and reason in this post. You OK?

If LSU had only those five RB's on the team this year then not one would be on your list. Because Miles will not let LSU become a one horse show.

Dyer> Richardson.....

That may be true, but it's pretty impossible to argue for a rb on athletic ability and hypothetical what he could do if he had as many carries alone. Eventually you need to produce the numbers to back up the argument.

it's very telling that none of the LSU RB's made the list

I like how Choctaw Hog really thinks Dennis Johnson is better than Mike Dyer Hilarious stuff. I also remember when he said Dyer wouldn't break 1,000 yards this season.

LSU could have a feature back
but at LSU, it doesn't really work like that
ware
160 650 4.1 7
ford
106 625 5.9 7
magee
27 133 4.9 1
hilliard
30 146 4.9 5
blue
70 445 6.4 6

I think LSU just hitched their wagon to the wrong back. If Ford had Ware's carries and vice versa, Ford would probably be on the list.
ETA: Having said that, LSU doesn't really need to change anything up. What they are doing is obviously working for them.

This ^ is correct. Trent is a little more shifty / hard to bring down, and much more of a threat catching the ball out of the backfield. Dyer is on pace to hit 1400 yards this season behind a terrible 0-line.
