Congratulations. Your school is in a state that is multiple times larger and you can only beat out the SEC's nerds, basketball players, farmhands, and uppity frat boys.
Atta boy. You really made your case there bub.

quote:well for one, LSU is a lot closer to A7M. we but heads in recruiting quite often, and with bith schools producing so many oil & gas workers, their will be a lot more A7M-LSU fan interaction.
What?
How is this anymore of a rivalry than Arky?
only Arky fan I have ever met in person is an 80 year old half AZn woman ( to you DC!) while I know quite a few Aggies.

Here are my summary ideas on A&M
I find the fans EXTREME in their IDENTIFICATION as Aggies,
Tex A&M has 2 million fans.
They are equal Aubie and Bama in that regard.
more than Ark, La, Ole, MSU, VAndy et cetera et cetera.
Glad to recruit Tex. Play games in Jerry World.

I am glad they are joining us. It is one of my favorite rivalries that I used to love growing up since we played em every year.
I disagree with the above post. I think LSU fans , especially those of us out of state - identify with our beloved Tigers just as much as any school anywhere.
When you live out of state and you work or run into other Tigers it is a great bond.
The ARkies up here look at us incredulously when they see Tigers meet each other for the first time. We have our own cult just like the Aggies. We just do it with more of a south Louisiana flavor.

I like it. Fine addition. I just wish a 14th team could have been arranged simultaneously.

Im in the, I wish we wouldnt have expanded but understand why, but dont understand only bringing in one at this point because A&M wasnt going to go anywhere camp..
I enjoyed the rivalry we shared and look forward to bringing it back. A&M will fit well in the West, no matter what people say.

It's not. The so-called rivalry with Arky is only on this board. I can't remember ever talking to my friends other than the week we play them to discuss them. Their only recent success may give a storyline for the media but it's not enough to warrant game day. You want to know who's in LSU fans heads right now. It's Kentucky (because we play them next) Bama, UF, Auburn
Big jump down the list then it's UTk, and a tie between OM & Arky for what games we are excited to talk about.

A&M/LSU was a great rivalry when I was in school. Lots of passion on both sides, it was always at the beginning of the year and really got things rolling. Lots of connections between the schools, especially with A&M recruiting LA and LSU recruiting Houston and East Texas. Like Harvey Williams who was an Aggie commit and then apparently right before signing day had some girls joke with him about the Aggie War Hymn and he signed with LSU only to go on and kill A&M for his entire LSU career or on the other end when Billy Cannon's kids came to A&M with his namesake becoming a first round NFL pick. John David Crow and Bucky Richardson were both from Louisiana as well. Also lots of little things like the highlight of the Ross Volunteer schedule (an elite Corps Unit and the Honor Guard to the Texas Governor). going to Mardi Gras to march.
A&M/Arkie was a rivalry but never that heated. The '89 Game was controversial and the '75 game probably cost A&M a shot at the NC but considering they played 67 times there just weren't that many memorable games. Arkie was always the step child in the SWC as the only non Texas school and it almost felt like an OOC game. I always respected Arkie for leaving the SEC and wished we could have when the SWC broke up but it wasn't politically possible. I'm going to the game tomorrow at Jerryworld but hope that series goes back to home and home. It's just not a great atmosphere for an every year game and everything price wise is jacked up. This will be my 4th Aggie game at Jerryworld and I am about at the point where I wish they would just take out the damn Jumbotron, it's just too much.
A&M has a lot of ties with Bama and it will be interesting to see how that develops. I also remember the '86 Cotton Bowl with Auburn like it was yesterday. I always felt like Auburn and A&M had a lot in common.
Not a lot of history with the rest of the SEC other than a few games.
