you're not looking hard enough then. I've never once screamed "ALABAMA IS CHEATING. SHOOT EM'". Neither has a bunch of other Auburn posters. Don't get me wrong, there are some shitty ones floating around the SECr. Most of us ignore them though.

I wouldn't know. I don't visit other sports message boards besides this one. I avoid ITAT like the plague.

Did you happen to stand up and tell your Auburn brethren, leave this fine upstanding University alone?
Negative ghost rider; I did not. I am one, small voice on the SECr. Plus, I'm a female; they'd just tell me STFU and make them sammiches.

Well just by looking at this board and according to the report by Clay Travis, which he recieved from I'm sure another AU site, AU fans are saying "Bama's cheating again." Just look at the pictures. Did you happen to stand up and tell your Auburn brethren, leave this fine upstanding University alone? I think not, hun.

There was never a loophole. To think a father isnt acting on behalf of his son is rather stupid. The "interpretation" was made so the season wouldnt be ruined. No one in th ncaa wanted the responsibility of declaring the leading heisman candidate on the #1 team ineligible, so they invented a loophole that wasnt there (similar to the Ohio State players- you can serve suspensions if you come back next year!). They are "closing" a loophole that never existed. Its strictly a PR move.

Do you go to those sites and suggest they be reasonable? I would venture to say that you doing so would be a lost cause...much like your attempts at justification in this thread.
No. That's why I came over here. To many crazies on those other sites. I heard this was a good site to converse, but to be honest, I'm seeing a lot of the same things here. This board is better just by letting the fans go at it a bit without getting flamed by not being a fan of the team of a particular board. I like bantering about with fans of other teams. It's not personal to me. But I will defend my team and give my opinions when deemed necessary. It's all in good fun for me.

so then you'd have no problem with punishing Auburn, who had nothing to do with wrongdoing(at least as it stands on 7/27/11)?

Lots of schools get punished when the player but not the school has been found guilty of some wrongdoing. Was Georgia not punished by missing AJ Green for four games? Georgia did no wrong. Not that I think Auburn was completely innocent for any reason. At best, I think they knew about the issues and then took their chances that either no one would find out or, if it was found out, they could argue their way out of it after the season (the kink was that it ws found out during the season, rather than after). I think, just with what's been proven, Cam should have served a 2-4 game suspension as AJ Green did.

AJ was apart of Georgia's team when he broke the rules.
Cam was at Blinn JUCO when the MSU dealings occurred.
Not even close to the same situation. Especially considering compliance rules are explained, in detail, to active players.

thats just stupid. Yes, he violated rules, he should be punished.

No, his dad did before he committed to AU. How do you not know this yet?

We know for a fact that MSU knew and reported it to the SEC, but failed to follow up on a request for more info from the SEC. I don't know what the SEC did or when AU first learned of the issue. My understanding is AU wasn't informed until the season started or just before it. If it had been handled properly by all involved, Cam probably would have been declared ineligible and reinstated prior to the season starting. JMO.

Yes it is. Auburn would not be officially punished. Cam would, just as Georgia was not actually punished for AJ, AJ Green was punished. You cant say, "Well we cant punish the player becuase it might hurt the team!" Thats stupid, bordering on the dumbest thought pattern ive ever seen in my life. When a player is caught in wrongdoing, he is punished. If he happens to be t Auburn when that punishment is served, well, tough titty.

Parents are an extension of the athlete. If my mom gets a job because i committ to Tennessee, thats a violation. Get it?

Then why have their own bylaws? Just seems to me, the SEC could have declared Cam ineligible according to their own bylaw but didn't have the guts to stand on it. If they would have, would we be talking about all of this right now?
Yes because the SEC would have called the NCAA in to do there thing and we would be right back to the discussion.

Yes, Auburn knew. Recruiters arent stupid, they rarely get blindsided (though it does happen). A situation this big (player dad asking 180k) Auburn certainly knew about. No, he wouldnt have been reinstated, the ncaa would have followed their own protocol, (where they have repeatedly said the parent is an extension of the athlete) and suspended Cam for 2-4 games for trying get money out of state.
