59,
A guy I coach with has a lot of family in the Phil Campbell/Hackleburg area. They all made it out safely, but everything is destroyed.
I hate to get in a pissing contest here, but the pictures from that area do look different. There are a few houses here that made it thru. Looking at his pictures and the aerial pictures it looks like someone took a pitching wedge to a dandelion.
I was with one guy this weekend that was disappointed the Tuscaloosa tornado wasn't an EF-5. I just shook my head and went about my business.

I think the point is there are a few backwater towns that aren't getting the high profile support. I-59 might have heard the same Hackleburg resident on the radio early Sunday morning.

I agree it doesn't really matter. F4 tornadoes (winds from 166 to 200 mph) can easily reduce well built homes and businesses to piles of rubble.
Having said that, I am confused by the wording the NWS uses. They say they've finalized it at a high end EF4 yet in the same release they say they still have to evaluate areas of the damage path to see if it needs to be upgraded. Regardless, a high mile wide swath of high end EF4 damage speaks for itself.
